Betting on the Frisco Bowl: Kent State Vs. Utah State Betting Line & Pick

Frisco Bowl 2019 Betting Preview

The Third Annual Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl will take place in Frisco, Texas, as the Utah State Aggies and the Kent State Golden Flashes will do battle.

The Aggies enter play with a 7-5 record but saw the bulk of their success happen in the Mountain West Conference, as they went 6-2 during that span, good enough for third place.

Kent State saw just a touch less success as it finished the season at 6-6 but still finished with its best record in six seasons.

Expect a High-Scoring Game

This will also be the third time that these two schools have met, with the two splitting victories in the 1970s. This should be a high-scoring affair that should be on your TV this bowl season. has Utah State (-270 moneyline) as a seven-point favorite over Kent State (+220), with the over/under set at 65 points.

Golden Flashes Finish Season Strong

Kent State enters this game after winning five of its last eight games, including its last three.

The offense has come alive as the Flashes are averaging 27 points and 393 yards per game.

Impressive Offense, Poor Defense

Quarterback Jordan Crum, a junior, is largely responsible for this resurgence, as he averages 245 yards a game and has only thrown two interceptions to his 18 touchdowns.

While the Flashes have been impressive on offense, they have not been on the defensive side of the ball. They give up 31 points a game as well as 249 rushing yards per contest, which ranks 127th in the nation.

The pass defense is a little better, as Kent State has only allowed 221 yards per game, though with teams having so much success running the ball, they don’t have to go to the air as much.

Aggies Are Back In A Bowl Game

Head coach Gary Anderson started to establish a program as he has had the Aggies bowl-eligible in three of the four years he has been with the program.

They are 1-1 in their last two bowl appearances. This is the eighth bowl trip for Utah State in the last nine seasons.

The NFL draft folks will be focusing on this game, as Jordan Love is the quarterback playing in his final game for the Aggies. He has thrown for over 3,000 yards and 17 touchdowns on the year.

He has been able to get the whole offense involved, as there are six different receivers that have over 250 yards receiving, with Siaosi Mariner leading the way with 874.

Utah Would Have To Improve Defensively

The Aggies are a team that knows how to find the end zone, as they average 28.3 points a game.

The Utah State defense will have to improve in this one, as it has given up 29 points a game, which is 103rd in the country. The Aggies give up 197 rushing yards a game.

David Woodward leads the team in tackles and forcing turnovers as he has six on the year. The Aggies will have their hands full stopping the dual-threat abilities of Crum.

Our Kent State Vs. Utah State Frisco Bowl Betting Pick

Utah State is the wise pick to win straight up and also cover the -7 point spread on MyBookie. Love will finish his career with a big performance against a bad defense.

The total of 65 points is a lot, and if you are looking to bet the over/under, then take the under 65. We think Kent State might have a tough time scoring with the impressive linebacker play of Utah State.
