Gator Bowl 2019: Tennessee Vs. Indiana Betting Line & Pick

Betting on the Gator Bowl: Indiana Vs. Tennessee Betting Line & Pick

Gator Bowl 2019 Betting Preview

Both Tennessee and Indiana seem to have their programs heading in the right direction. This year’s eight-win season was the best for the Hoosiers since 1983.

Indiana put its faith in Tom Allen as the head coach of the future with a seven-year extension.

The Volunteers are getting back on the map in coach Jeremy Pruitt’s second season. They have won five straight games and will be making their first bowl appearance in three years.

Volunteers Streaking Into Bowl Game

Tennessee won five straight games to end the regular season, which is no easy task when you play in the Southeastern Conference. The two most impressive were road victories over Missouri and Kentucky.

After opening the season with losses to Georgia State and BYU (in overtime), the Volunteers started playing much better football. The only games they lost after that were all to teams in the top 10.

Key Players

Jarrett Guarantano has gone 134 of 226 for 1,937 yards with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. His favorite target is Jauan Jennings, who has 942 yards on 57 catches with eight touchdowns.

Ty Chandler leads a balanced ground game with 620 yards on 123 carries with three touchdowns. Eric Gray and Tim Jordan have also rushed for 400 yards this year.

Tennessee’s defense has been the strength of the team. It held its last five opponents to 21 points or less. The Volunteers give up 337.1 yards and 21.7 points per game.

Darrell Taylor leads the team with seven sacks. Nigel Warrior has picked off four passes and Bryce Thompson three for half of the team’s 14 interceptions.

Hoosiers Done Being A Big Ten Doormat

It has been a long time since Indiana saw its name in the AP poll in football. The basketball team is storied in tradition, and football is usually just an afterthought.

Not this year, as in early November, the Hoosiers were ranked for the first time since 1994.

Key Players

Peyton Ramsey has thrown for 2,227 yards on 184 of 266 passing with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions. Whop Philyor has been tremendous this year with 1,001 yards on 69 receptions with five touchdowns.

Stevie Scott III leads the run game with 845 yards on 178 carries with 10 touchdowns.

Indiana’s defense is really good at limiting yards. They allowed 350.4 total yards and 24.5 points per game. Allen Stalling IV leads the team with five sacks.

Tennesse Vs. Wyoming Gator Bowl Betting Prediction

While I really like both of these defenses, I think the play here is the over. With the extra time to prepare, both offenses can’t get creative with formations, trick plays, etc.

These two teams are really close, but I think the Volunteers have enough to cover. I am taking Tennessee -2 and playing the over 51.5.
