Golden Knights Vs. Sharks Predictions | NHL Playoffs 2019 Game 7 Picks
Vegas Golden Knights Vs. San Jose Sharks Betting Preview
If you told me before the series started that we will see the Vegas Golden Knights and the San Jose Sharks fighting for a second round ticket in a Game 7 scenario, I would have bought it. The series was too close to call, and now here we are, in a winner takes all situation. Vegas had the series where they wanted, being up 3-1, but they slept on the Sharks. The Golden Knights figured they would win Game 6 with home ice in their favor. It was the most natural feeling considering they outscored San Jose 11-3 in the first two games played in Las Vegas.
It took double overtime for the Sharks to even the series. But the most impressive thing was both their defense and effectiveness. When you read the stats, you can’t help to wonder how the Golden Knights didn’t close out the series. Vegas outshot San Jose 59 to 29 in Game 6. That 30 shots difference is an insane number. But also, the Knights were a lot more physical and intense, outhitting the Sharks 80 to 39. To make it all crazier, San Jose’s winning goal in a double-overtime game came in a shorthanded situation. If Vegas lose this series, this is the game they won’t believe it got away.
The money line for Game 7 doesn’t suggest a favorite. San Jose has won the last two games and has home ice advantage, but it’s been clear Vegas has been the better side. MyBookie.ag listed both the Sharks and the Golden Knights at -110. Both have 52% implied probability to win this game. That 2% belongs to the vig; meaning it is a 50-50 split. This series has had plenty of goals, and that’s because both teams create enough chances. Four of the six games happened to be Over the game total, and Game 4 was one goal shy to land on the Over as well.
The only meeting that was not inside this trend was Game 6, which we already talked about how weird and crazy it was. I know San Jose has won the last two games in the series, but I didn’t come out of Game 6 thinking they were the best squad of the two. They had incredible luck going their way, and I can’t bet on that in three straight meetings. At some point, the goals will land on the right side, in this case, on Vegas.
The Golden Knights are the hard-hitting, fast-paced team, which is not going into the SAP Center thinking or crying about their missed opportunities. I’m taking Vegas because I will feel dumb when they outplayed San Jose and my money is on the Sharks. What’s the play? Vegas -110.
