Green Bay Packers Vs. Kansas City Chiefs NFL Week 8 Betting Picks And Odds
When the NFL scheduled the meeting between the Packers and Chiefs for Primetime, the expectation was to have Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes go head-to-head on National Television.
However, Mahomes suffered a nasty knee injury last week, and all the hype went straight to the trash.
It was reported he practiced this week, but for now, Rodgers and the Packers are set to face backup Matt Moore and the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. This is what you need to know about the Green Bay Packers vs. Kansas City Chiefs matchup.

The people making the odds made the opening line Packers -3, but it has moved plenty over the last few days. The highest it got was Packers -5 but now is at -4.
So far, 60% of the betting public is taking Green Bay to cover the spread on the road.
The Green Bay Packers’ Edge Vs. The Chiefs
There are less than a hand full of guys who can match Aaron Rodgers throw for throw in the NFL. Pat Mahomes is one of those guys, and without him on the field, the most significant edge the Green Bay Packers have in this game is the talent at the quarterback position.
Rodgers has been on fire even though the team has had problems finding healthy receivers. Last week against the Raiders, he threw five touchdowns and ran for another in the 42-24 victory over Oakland.
The fantastic performance gave Rodgers a perfect passer rating in the game. It was the first time a Packers quarterback recorded a perfect passer rating in the history of the franchise.
Rodgers might have his best weapon back on Sunday. Davante Adams has a chance to play Sunday night as he went through the team stretch and warm-up this week. He hasn’t fully practiced, but the Packers haven’t ruled him out.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ Edge Vs. The Packers
Without Mahomes in the lineup, it’s hard to find an edge for the Chiefs. After all, they rely almost entirely on their offense to be successful.
Head coach Andy Reid informed that Pat Mahomes practiced on Wednesday and will be a game-time decision for Sunday Night.
Or course, the first thing on my mind is if the Kansas City Chiefs might be risking him by playing him so soon. Mahomes suffered a knee injury on Thursday night during week 7.
The initial report said he was going to be out at least three weeks, but now there is a possibility he’s back in ten days. Pat Mahomes is the leader of the best passing offense in the NFL.
What Would Happen If Mahomes Doesn’t Play?
I get why Reid wants him back, but the risk of him getting reinjured is too high compared to the reward. If Mahomes doesn’t play, then veteran Matt Moore will be in charge.
Moore is a seven-year veteran who has spent most of his career as a backup. His record as a starting QB is 15-15, with 46 touchdowns and 36 interceptions.
In his favor is the fact that the Packers’ defense allows has been porous. As much as we have praised Green Bay’s defensive unit in the first few weeks, they have the 7th worst total defense in the league.
Green Bay Packers Vs. Kansas City Chiefs NFL Week 8 Prediction
As great as Aaron Rodgers has been over the past two weeks, the Packers’ defense is starting to look like last year’s. It has become more and more vulnerable to good offensive schemes.
Andy Reid had ten days to prepare for this game, and if the Packers’ weaknesses are so glaring for us, imagine what he can do with the extra layoff.
Also, Matt Moore is not a scrub. He’s not Mahomes, of course, but the veteran can move the ball up and down to make this game entertaining.
The Packers Defense On The Road
Green Bay is 6-1 this season, but five of their last six-game were played at Lambeau Field. Going on the road could expose the defense even more.
Lastly, if there is a slight possibility that Mahomes plays, I would get him with the points at home. It’s crazy, but it sounds like he might have a shot to be on the field on Sunday Night–Bet Chiefs +4.
