Jaguars Vs. Titans – Thursday Night Football Week 14 Picks | Betting Odds
It might be far away from the sexiest Thursday Night Football matchup of the season, but when the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans open the NFL week 14, playoff talk will part of the conversation. Yes, the Titans can still reach the postseason as they sit there with their not so flashy .500 record. The Jags have the perfect team to play spoiler from now and until the end of the regular season.
MyBookie.ag opened this AFC South matchup with the Titans as 4.5-point favorites. It’s currently at 4-points, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this betting line gets to 3.5 points. 57% of the betting public is taking the home team to swallow the points and cover the spread. The game total is at 37.5 points after it opened at 38.

What’s the Jaguars’ latest betting form to face the Titans?
It’s clear to me the Jags are one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL in 2018. Many had them reaching the Super Bowl after just missing out last season. Others at least had them winning the AFC South and getting into the postseason. Jacksonville is nowhere near the playoffs, but if they deserve any credit, it is they are still fighting. There is no quitting on this team, yet. Last week they snapped a seven-game losing streak by beating a fellow divisional rival 6-0. Their win over the Indianapolis Colts ended the winning form of one of the best teams in the NFL over the past month. It also proved the Jags defense still is one of the best whenever they decide to lock in.
Colts QB Andrew Luck had thrown at least three touchdowns per game in the last eight games. His team was on a five-game win streak before getting to Jacksonville. Not only did the Jags stop Luck, but they shut him down for the first time in 82 starts. It was the first time in Luck’s career his team scored zero points. While that was a tremendous defensive showing, the Jaguars still need to work on the offensive side. That has been the side of the ball where they have looked inept for the majority of the season.
Head coach Doug Marrone switched the incompetent Blake Bortles for Cody Kessler, but it didn’t work. Jacksonville recorded only 211 total yards and 11 first downs last Sunday against Indianapolis. The one improvement they had is Kessler didn’t turn the ball over, which is Bortles’ fingerprint. The Jags will have tailback Leonard Fournette back for this game after missing last week’s outing due to suspension. Fournette is responsible for most of the team’s yards whenever he’s on the field. The entire offense goes from incompetent to “ok” when the second year running back is on the backfield. His return is huge for Jacksonville and Kessler’s chances to keep the starting QB job.
What’s the Titans’ latest betting form to face the Jaguars?
I’m just going to say it. I hate the Titans. This is the most indescribable team in the entire NFL. They can go from beating the Dallas Cowboys and destroying the New England Patriots to look useless in the next few weeks. Tennessee barely beat the New York Jets last week 26-22 after they were down 16 points early in the game. A late touchdown reception by Corey Davis helped them get back to the winning column after two consecutive weeks with straight up losses. The Titans haven’t covered the spread once in the last three games.
Their defense is good enough to force a few bad throws from Cody Kessler, but their number one challenge will be stopping Leonard Fournette. Tennessee saw how the Texans RB Lamar Miller ran all over them the last time they were on a Primetime game. Miller put 162 rushing yards and a score over the Titans on Monday Night Football.
The Titans offense still scares me. While sometimes they get sweet drives with QB Marcus Mariota playing to his potential, they tend to stall when they reach the red zone. Last week against the Jets they were 3 of 5 inside the 20 yards line. They had to settle for field goals at the wrong possible time. I like Mariota. I think he is a good quarterback with a lot of upside on his game. But against a Jaguars defense that’s coming off shutting down Andrew Luck, his game needs to be flawless.
The play For the TNF Game between Jaguar Vs. Titans?
Lately, the Titans have dominated the series against the Jaguars. Which is a little weird considering the Jags reached the AFC Championship last season. Tennessee has won the previous three meetings, and seven of the last ten. The Titans already won the first encounter of the season with a 9-6 score. It sounds easy, right? The team with the current best record happens to dominate the series. Let’s just pick them to cover. It’s not that easy. The Titans offense has really struggled lately. Not to mention they will face one of the best defenses in the NFL.
Although the Jaguars’ season record is sickening, the team still has a lot of talent and fight in it. The 4-point spread looks like enough value for me to take the points. Jacksonville plays the old school style. They have a great defense with a solid running game. There is a reason the Titans haven’t covered the spread in the last three weeks. They fooled us all with the win over the Patriots. They were never that good to begin with. In a divisional matchup like this one, you want the team with the nastier attitude. And that’s Jacksonville. Bet the Jags +4.
