Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers – NFL Preseason Week 2 Betting Picks and Odds
The Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers are set to play their second preseason game this week. Both were big winners in the preseason week one, but that barely helps us for this meeting. Let’s see what they bring.
I suspect both teams will have their starting quarterbacks play for an entire quarter. The quality of the football should be a lot better during this weekend for that reason alone.
Last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, QB Patrick Mahomes took the field for one series where he went 4-4 for 66 yards. Pat didn’t throw a touchdown, but the offense did score during that drive.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Preview
Chase Litton and Kyle Shurmur will be the two taking most of the snaps under center in Pittsburgh. Litton had a good night completing 11-15 passes for two touchdowns. Although he did turn the ball over once. Shurmur recorded 77 yards completing six of 15 attempts.
There is not a real trend about how Andy Reid handles the preseason. He’s 2-2 in the last three seasons if that is worth something. The only week where he has a winning record during the preseason is in week three.
What I do know is Kansas City is willing to put on a show offensively with or without Mahomes on the field. Reid had so much fun last season, he’s looking for the next playmaker to add to the offense. There are plenty of names trying to become the second or third-string receivers on this team.
The Steelers also had a good showing last week. Ben Roethlisberger didn’t play, but he should take the field on Saturday night, at least for a series. Yeah, Ben knows the offense profoundly, but it’s about finding rhythm even with the guys he knows.
Both Steelers backups QBs are an X-factor in this game because they are in a training camp battle to be the second listed in the depth chart. Mason Rudolph showed last week why he used to torch defenses in the Big 12 when he was with Baylor.
Joshua Dobbs abilities
But Joshua Dobbs has scrambling abilities that the other two quarterbacks don’t possess. Pittsburgh wants to back to be a fun team and these games help.
This game opened as a pick ‘em in many markets and several sportsbooks have the Steelers as a 1-point favorite in the spread. MyBookie.ag listed as a PK and hasn’t moved in the last few hours. With that said 85% of the betting public is taking the Kansas City Chiefs to win outright.
What’s the Pick for Chiefs vs. Steelers Preseason Week Two Matchup?
I have much more confidence of what the Steelers backup QBs bring to the table than the Chiefs. Having success betting on preseason football has to do a lot about how good your second and third squad are. In this game, Pittsburgh has the edge in the most significant position in football. Take the Steelers PK.
