Now that the official College Football Playoff rankings are out, both LSU and Alabama know the committee is not joking.

Clemson is currently out of the top four spots despite being the undefeated champs.

LSU and Bama can’t afford to skip a beat by losing this weekend. The pressure on both programs makes their matchup on Saturday one of the most exciting of the 2019 College Football season.

What The NCAA Football Odds Say About The LSU At Alabama Matchup

The NCAA Football betting lines opened with Alabama as a touchdown favorite to win this game. The line has dropped in the last few days, and most sports betting sites have it at -6. Some have even reached -5.5 as the lowest number available, but not many.

57% of the betting public is taking the Tigers to cover the spread on the road at Tuscaloosa.

LSU is listed +400 to win the National Championship after the rankings came out on Tuesday Night.

Alabama is now +275, behind Ohio State at +215.

LSU Tigers’ Edge Against Alabama

LSU has lost eight in a row in the series against Alabama. The scenario is very different this time. The Tigers used to be a defensive driven program but not anymore.

Since Ed Oregon took over as a head coach, his number one goal has been making LSU an offensive powerhouse. So far this year, he has accomplished this goal. On Saturday, it will be their biggest test this season.

Stellar Performance From LSU’s Offense

LSU averages 46.8 points per game in 2019, which is the fourth-best number in the nation. It’s mostly due to the Heisman Trophy favorite Joe Burrows, who has been unbelievable this season.

Burrows leads the second-best passing offense in the country, averaging 377.6 passing yards per game. He has thrown 30 touchdowns this year against only four interceptions. The 30 TDs is a school record, and four games are remaining in the schedule to keep adding more.

Those numbers have made him the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy in the eyes of the oddsmakers. Burrow leads the list of candidates at +100.

Alabama Crimson Tide’s Edge Against LSU

This is Alabama’s first real test this season. Luckily for them, they will have to deal with Burrows and the LSU passing offense at home.

The Tide doesn’t envy much of the offensive power the Tigers have. Bama has the second-best scoring offense averaging 48.6 points per game. They also have the fifth-best aerial attack averaging 338.6 passing yards every weekend.

Will Tagovailoa Be Healthy To Play?

The issue, of course, is finding out the status of QB Tua Tagovailoa. He’s listed questionable after he underwent surgery to repair a high ankle sprain three weeks ago. Tua has been limited at practice, but the word on the street is he will play on Saturday.

The oddsmakers at MyBookie listed Tagovailoa at +325 to win the Heisman. He hasn’t played in two weeks, but a win over LSU and particularly against Burrows would put him back in the game.

LSU Vs. Alabama Week 11 NCAA Football Prediction

When Alabama has played against good opponents in the Nick Saban era, the difference has been the defense and coaching. The Tide always had the upper hand in both areas.

I’m not here to tell you LSU’s Ed Orgeron is better than Saban because that would be blasphemy. However, the Tigers do have the better and hotter quarterback out of the two programs. Alabama’s defense hasn’t been nearly as impressive as in past years.

Bama hasn’t played a good team other than Texas A&M. Now the Aggies are no longer ranked team.

Offense Performance Will Decide The Game

Joe Burrows is completing 78.8% of his passes this year and 80.0% when playing against Top 25. He had two weeks to prepare for whatever Alabama will bring to the table on Saturday.

Also, the Tide might be forcing Tua to come back a little sooner than expected. A high ankle sprain is hard to heal in less than a month.

I’m taking the points in what should be a fascinating game between two of the best teams in the country. Bet LSU +6.
