LSU Tigers vs. Texas Longhorns – NCAAF Betting Picks And Odds
Both LSU and Texas handled their week one sparring fairly easy. It’s time for the real deal when the Tigers and Longhorns clash in a juicy College Football week two matchup.
The game opened with the Tigers as 4.5-point favorites on the road against Texas. The odds moved an entire point up to 5.5-points, but it has settled at 5-points over the last few hours.

LSU Tigers vs. Texas Longhorns Betting Preview
The market will move the needle one way or the other but taking the Longhorns with at +5 is good enough. The total has been more volatile for this one. It opened at 52.5 points, and it went as high as 56 points. MyBookie.ag has it back at 55 points.
The 55-3 win over the Georgia Southern Eagles was more like a spring practice than an actual game for LSU. The Tigers held the Eagles to just 24 passing yards 98 total yards.
Just like he would on spring practice, senior QB Joe Burrow shined completing 23 of 27 passes for 278 yards and five touchdowns.
Burrow will see a more significant challenge against Texas, that’s obvious, but he should still have a solid outing against the Longhorns. Texas’ defense struggled last week allowing 413 total yards to Louisiana Tech.
The Tigers are working on a new spread offense that will put a lot of points every week. New passing-game coordinator Joe Brady has been working to transform LSU into an up-tempo offense.
What The Longhorns Bring To This Game
The Longhorns defense had problems stopping the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs last week, but they still won by 31 points. At one point, Texas had a 38-0 lead before the defense got tired, and some substitutes arrived at the scene.
Head coach Tom Herman was 0-2 in season openers at Texas. No one is complaining now after finally started a year 1-0 on his tenure with the Longhorns. QB Sam Ehlinger threw 276 yards, and four touchdown passes against the Bulldogs.
Ehlinger spread the ball around to 10 different receivers. Sophomore wideout Brennan Eagles separated himself with two TD catches.
It’s a fair question to ask if the defense can hold the LSU up-tempo offense in check for four quarters. The Longhorns defense was mostly functional, keeping Louisiana Tech to 14-points in the end, but giving up +400 yards is less than ideal.
LSU vs. Texas Betting Prediction
Let’s start with the obvious. The game total is not high enough, especially when looking at the quarterback talent from both programs.
This matchup will end up in the 60s, with both teams scoring in most possessions. The oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag listed Texas at 9.5 wins for the season.
The Longhorns are likely to end up dropping this game against LSU. I expect both teams to exchange touchdowns, but I can see Texas covering late with a desperation touchdown. Bet Texas +5.
