Michigan Vs. Ohio State – College Football Week 13 Picks
It’s been a while since Michigan jumped in as a favorite against their hated Big Ten rival, Ohio State. This is perhaps their biggest chance to end years of frustration inside the Big Ten. It has been an overwhelming domination by the Buckeyes’ side over the past 15 years. This might be it.
The oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag have the Wolverines as 4.5-point favorites for this one. It’s the first time since 2004 where Michigan is the favorite on the road against Ohio State. The betting line opened at 3.5-points; it moved up to 5.5 and lately it has settled down to 4.5. 53% of the betting public is swallowing the points and taking Michigan to cover the spread. The game total is at 55.5 points, down from the 57.5 points it started.
Michigan Wolverines Vs. Ohio State Buckeyes Predictions
To say it has been a dominance by Ohio State in the series over Michigan is to fall short. It’s been embarrassing for the Wolverines. It’s so inclined towards the Buckeyes it’s hard even to call it a rivalry during this century. Ohio State has won 13 of their last 14 games. That only win by Michigan came in 2011 as Ohio State was suffering from head coaching debacle at the time. When Michigan hired Jim Harbaugh, it was to take over the Big Ten and put behind the Buckeyes control in the Conference. Harbaugh is 0-4 against Ohio State, but this is the year he finally goes into Ohio Stadium with the real sense they can win this one.
Michigan is rolling with 10-straight victories since losing to Notre Dame in the first game of the season. They haven’t won in Ohio since 2000, and they have to this Saturday. Not only is a berth in the Big Ten Championship game at stake, but their College Football playoffs as well. The Wolverines defense has been rolling over the past month, and that’s the key going on the road into a hostile environment. Michigan has allowed 10.2 points per game in their last four games. Last week against Indiana was the first time in four games a team scored double-digits on them in the 31-20 win over the Hoosiers.
Ohio State is also 10-1 this season, but their record feels a lot different than Michigan’s. The Buckeyes have struggled to stay in the mix for the College Football playoffs. Off-field issues involving head coach Urban Meyer hasn’t helped at all. Last week they failed to cover as a two-touchdown favorite on the road against Maryland. Their thrilling 52-21 win barely kept them afloat for the final four conversations. Now, this is the part where you throw all the stats out of the window. This is going to be a bad-blood meeting on Saturday. Michigan is tired of hearing people telling them Ohio State is their daddy.
The Buckeyes are not willing to let go of the control inside the Big Ten East division, just yet. These two teams are set to trade punches all game. I’m taking the points because I don’t see any of the two winning by more than a field. Ohio State is not used to play as the underdog and playing at home sure helps them to equalize the great momentum Michigan is having this season. What’s the play? Ohio State +4.5.
