MLB Betting 6-13-17 – Free Picks
We’re back with some MLB action, something that should continue for much of the season. Unfortunately, we barely missed covering with Cleveland last night (+8.5), but I know some of you likely got it at +9 and earned yourself a push with the 129-120 Warriors’ victory.
As always, all our odds will be quoted from Bovada (Full Review) and are accurate at the time of posting. However, be sure to line shop for the best price before placing your bet. When betting baseball – make sure you’re betting dime lines.

Colorado Rockies – T. Chatwood +109 at Pittsburgh Pirates – G. Cole -119 Total: 9 runs
The Rockies head to Pittsburgh to begin a series against the Pirates. Tyler Chatwood takes the mound for the visitors. He’s put together an up and down season but has been much better on the road. In his past three road starts, he’s allowed just nine hits and two earned runs in 21 innings.
Once tagged as the Pirates’ future ace – Gerrit Cole has lost that label over the past season or so. Cole is coming off a rough start last Thursday against the Marlins where he gave up seven runs in just 4 2/3 innings. He has a 10.71 ERA over his last four starts.
Pittsburgh opened as a -109 favorite in this game. That’s moved to -119 at Bovada.lv. However, over 70 percent of the wagers have come in on the Rockies, but the line has gone in the other direction.
This is an excellent bounce-back spot for Cole. Yes, he’s been awful over his last few starts, but PNC Park is excellent for pitchers, and the Pirates’ offense has been on fire as of late. Chatwood is nothing special, and they should be able to get some runs.
Diving deeper into Cole – we can see that he’s been a bit unlucky with the home run ball. He also has an incredible 19.2% HR/FB rate so far this season. That’s a stark contrast to his career rate of 9.2%. That also shows with his xFIP at 3.88, but his ERA nearly a full run higher at 4.83.
He still has some of the best in the league and was a legitimate ace in 2015. I think he turns it around and that starts tonight.
Pick: Pirates -119
