MLB Betting 6-14-17 – Free Picks

We grabbed a win last night as the Pirates, and Gerrit Cole cruised over the Rockies to a 5-1 victory yesterday. We’re back again with more MLB action for today.

As always, all our odds will be quoted from Bovada (Full Review) and are accurate at the time of posting. However, be sure to line shop for the best price before placing your bet.

Colorado Rockies – G. Marquez -120 at Pittsburgh Pirates – C. Kuhl +100 Total: 8.5 runs

We’re heading back to Pittsburgh to today’s wager. The Rockies are on a rough stretch as of late, dropping their last three games. They will have a far better matchup today with Marquez versus Kuhl, however.

Marquez last two starts have pushed his season-long mark to a 4.44 ERA, but before that, he had been quite strong this season. He has an issue with walks but has a K/9 over 9.0. Half his starts have also come at Coors Field – an extremely tough place to pitch.

Chad Kuhl is coming off two strong starts, but he has a lot to be desired regarding raw talent. His walk rate as shot up this season and his 5.63 ERA is close to where it should be based on advanced peripherals.

Betting Action

Colorado opened at -108 and the odds have moved in their direction with Bovada currently having the game at Rockies -120 and the Pirates +100. Marquez has gotten almost all the betting action so far. Over 90 percent of bettors are putting their money down on the visitors.

Prediction

I love Marquez tonight against a Pittsburgh lineup that often fields minor leaguers each night. Anytime you get a pitcher like this away from a bandbox like Coors Field and facing a mediocre lineup, like Pittsburgh’s – it’s an excellent opportunity to pounce.

Kuhl also simply isn’t anything special and is likely a borderline 5th starter or long man for most MLB teams. His track record in the majors is short and average, at best. I expect the Rockies to have no issue scoring runs today and to snap their current slide.

Pick: Rockies -120 at Bovada.lv
