San Francisco Giants – M. Moore (L) +135 at Colorado Rockies – J. Hoffman -155 Total: 11 runs
The Giants head to Coors Field to take on the Rockies in a four-game series against their divisional rivals. The NL West is one of the most hotly contested divisions in baseball. The Dodgers and the Rockies are tied for first place, and the Diamondbacks are just a half-game behind them both. San Francisco is all but out of it this season, sporting a 26-41 record, one of the worst marks in baseball.
The Giants will throw Matt Moore tonight. The southpaw has struggled mightily away from AT&T Park this season. He’s 0-4 with a 7.94 ERA in seven starts away from his home ballpark this season. Coors Field isn’t likely to help those numbers. On the season, he has a weak 5.28 ERA.
Jeff Hoffman, on the other hand, has been fantastic. The Rockies’ starter has walked one just one batter in his last three starts and struck out 34. Although he’s pitched just 27 innings, he’s been nearly unhittable with a 2.33 ERA.
Betting Action
The line opened with the Rockies as a -146 favorite. It has moved to -155 or higher at most sportsbooks. Colorado has taken over 75 percent of wagers so far. The total is a massive 11 runs, which is tied for the highest on the slate.
Prediction
Love Colorado in this spot. Moore has been terrible lately, and the Rockies hit lefties well. It’s also an indictment of San Francisco’s offense, which is one of the worst units in the league. Roll with the home team in a game they should win easily.
