MLB Betting 6-16-17 – Free Picks
We’ve been on a nice run as of late, hitting our last three picks, including yesterday’s win with the Colorado Rockies. We have a full slate of baseball this Friday night.
Chicago Cubs – E. Butler -120 at Pittsburgh Pirates – Trevor Williams +100 Total: 9.5 runs
The Cubs come to town to take on the Pirates in an NL Central clash. Both teams aren’t playing their best baseball, and only 2.5 games separate the two franchises in the Central standings. The division, surprisingly, is still being led by the Milwaukee Brewers.
Eddie Butler will take the mound for the visiting Cubbies. He has been mediocre this season with a 4.03 ERA. The right-hander will be making his seventh start of the season for Chicago. He is coming off a loss against Colorado where he gave up three runs over five innings.
Trevor Williams hasn’t been much better for the Pirates. Williams pitched terribly in his last start against the Marlins. His pitch count got too high, and he gave up five runs in just four innings of work. He currently has a 5.13 ERA.
The odds haven’t moved much at most sportsbooks after the Cubs opened as a -116 favorite. Betting action has favored the visitors, with about 75 percent of bets coming in on the visiting Cubbies. The total opened at 9.5 runs. Almost 80 percent of bets have come in on the over so far. It’s juice on the over at most sites, including Bovada where it’s o 9.5 (-115).
I love the over in this spot. PNC Park is more of a pitcher’s park, but both pitchers have been more than hittable lately. 9.5 is high for the ballpark, but I think it’s entirely warranted based on these two pitchers.
The Cubs also have plenty of left-handed power, which plays well at PNC. Both offenses should have no trouble putting up runs in this one. It sucks to pay -115 vig, but this one could easily be at ten runs before first pitch.
