MLB Betting 7-07-17 – Free Picks

We nailed yesterday’s pick with Foltynewicz pitching well enough for the Braves to grab a victory against the Nationals in a game that was delayed. We have a huge slate tonight and another play that is hopefully a victory. In the past three days, we’ve gone 3-0 with the picks. We’re heading back to the Brave and Nats series tonight.

As always, all our odds will be quoted from BetOnline (Full Review) and are accurate at the time of posting. However, be sure to line shop for the best price before placing your bet.

Atlanta Braves – R. Dickey +236 at Washington Nationals – M. Scherzer -258 Total: 8 runs

The Nationals have run away with their division. They’re winning the NL East and going to the playoffs. The Braves don’t have a shot of catching them, but they still have an outside shot at Wild Card spot.

Dickey got blasted for eight runs by the Nationals on June 13th, but he has been excellent as of late. The knuckleballer has allowed one or fewer runs in four of his last five starts. On the year, he has an ERA of 4.44

Scherzer is the one pitcher you expect to break down from his insane innings workload, but the guy seems to never stop. He leads NL pitchers in strikeouts and ERA. He has a total of 10 or more strikeouts in his past eight starts.

Betting Action

All the action is coming on Scherzer in this one, but the Nationals odds have gone down since the opening number of -275. The total opened at 8 runs and has not moved, but is juiced on the under at most sportsbooks.

I love the under in this one. Scherzer is clearly unhittable, but I am buying Dickey against a Nationals lineup that seems to have lost a bit since Trea Turner returned from the disabled list. I don’t think they get to Dickey today. You could make a case for Atlanta with the line drop, but my favorite play in this game is the under 8 runs.

Pick: Under 8 runs
