MLB Betting 7-21-17 – Free Picks

Yesterday was a solid day, we managed to win our Pirates bet but pushed the Giants and Padres total. Every team is in action tonight as we have a full slate of games on Friday evening. Let’s get another winning night. Good luck!

As always, all our odds will be quoted from BetOnline (Full Review) and are accurate at the time of posting. However, be sure to line shop for the best price before placing your bet.

Pittsburgh Pirates – T. Williams +123 at Colorado Rockies – J. Hoffman -133 Total: 12 runs

We’re back again with Pittsburgh. After sweeping the Brewers, the Pirates head to the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field. Both teams are in the playoff, but the Rockies have a much better record of 56-41 compared to 48-48 for Pittsburgh.

Williams has been up and down in his first full season in MLB. However, he’s been much better over the past month or so. He gave up ten hits in his last start against the Cardinals but allowed just two runs in 5 2/3 innings on Sunday at PNC Park. He has a 4.57 ERA on the season.

Hoffman, like many Rockies’ starters, has terrible home-road splits. He’s been rough at home with a 6.44 ERA but has been considerably better on the road, with a 2.45 ERA. Hoffman is taking over for the injured Tyler Chatwood in the rotation. His season ERA is 4.33.

Betting Action

The Rockies opened as a -149 favorite at most sites. Despite getting over 75 percent of wagers, the line has gone the other direction. At BetOnline, the odds are currently Rockies -133 and Pirates +123.

Pittsburgh is on a roll at the moment, and Williams has hit his stride as a starter as of late. If you discount Williams’ first start of the season, his ERA is 3.95, and he’s held opponents to an OPS under .699 in his 12 starts. He’s a better pitcher than Hoffman, who is at this point, a bust of a prospect.

We also have no doubts about how he handles Coors Field. His poor career numbers speak for themselves. Williams is underrated in this spot and the Pirates offense has been strong. Both pitchers won’t likely have great outings, but Pittsburgh also has the edge in bullpen arms.

Pick: Pirates +123 at
