Nate Diaz Vs. Jorge Masvidal UFC 244 Betting Picks And Odds

Nate Diaz vs. Masvidal Free Expert Betting Picks And Odds

UFC 244 is a special night, as it will be the 500th event in UFC history.  Nate Diaz measures his skills against Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal, a matchup that promises to be a dog fight inside the Octagon.

The prize? A fifty thousand dollar belt and the honor to call themselves the Baddest Motherf$%&@ (BMF) in the game. On Saturday, they’ll make history in front of our eyes.

UFC 244 is the first time in combat sports that an exclusive division title came to life for a one-time-only event. The BMF title fight is loaded with action, and it is something fans will remember in years to come.

What The Odds Say About Nate Diaz Vs. Jorge Masvidal

We’ve seen exciting movements on the line since the BMF title was confirmed.  What hasn’t changed is Jorge Masvidal being the favorite. A few weeks ago, in most sportsbooks, you would see Masvidal at -185.

Right now, he is still the favorite, and as you will find Masvidal at MyBookie.ag at -165. Yet, the odds have gone the other direction in favor of Nate Diaz. It would be strange to be the guy with the fastest KO in UFC history and not to come into your next bout as the favorite.

Besides that fantastic KO against Askren, “Gamebred” comes from several epic performances in his recent bouts. I can understand why betting action favors him.

Nate Diaz was the dog since the beginning. Last month you could find him at +182 in the most popular sportsbooks.

Right now, Diaz is +135, according to MyBookie.ag oddsmakers. This is a tight matchup, and odds aside is a tough call for any UFC bettor. Let’s take a closer look at these athletes and see if we can find value.

Nate Diaz’s Edge Over Masvidal

Nate Diaz’s cardio is off the charts. If it’s not the best, it’s at least in the top three in the UFC. He loves to cut the distance and attack his opponents with his unorthodox boxing.

Diaz tends to be the push forward type of striker, and volume is a constant in his attacking patterns.  Not many fighters can consistently land two and three-strike combos. Especially for three-plus rounds like Diaz does.

After three years out of the Octagon, he looked great against Pettis. His striking and cardio were on point. As if nothing changed after his time off.

His ground game is one of his most dangerous weapons. Nate Diaz is a Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Cesar Gracie. We’ve seen he’s not only an incredible striker but a top-level grappler as well.

He has twelve submissions in his UFC career. That is the ultimate proof of his grappling abilities. One of the most famous is probably his choke from the back tap out against McGregor.

Jorge Masvidal’s Edge Over Nate Diaz

Jorge Masvidal’s primary weapon is his striking. He has been the fight business long enough to develop an outstanding striking game.

Right now, he is one of the smartest strikers in the hurt business. Jorge is already part of UFC history, and that’s not something many active fighters could say.

Jorge feels comfortable testing the opponent’s reactions from the outside. A perfect example was his KO against Till.

Masvidal has insane speed, timing, accuracy, and a sharp sense to find hidden spots in anyone’s defense. We already established Nate Diaz is a top-level grappler. I wouldn’t put Masvidal in the BJJ hall of fame.

However, I wouldn’t underestimate what he can do defensively from a grappling standpoint. He did a fantastic job stopping Demian Maia’s submissions, who is hands down one of the best Jiu-Jitsu players in UFC history.

Not many UFC fighters faced have Maia and survived after he got them from behind from the stand-up position with a body triangle.

Masvidal lost by decision, but the fact remains. He didn’t get submitted. So, I wouldn’t assume he’s done if the fight goes to the ground. But most likely, he will avoid this scenario at all costs.

Nate Diaz Vs. Jorge Masvidal UFC 244 Betting Prediction

I don’t think this will be a short battle. We most likely see the fight going to distance. Masvidal has strong punching power, technique, and speed. He’s looking physically stronger than Diaz.

It might be that Masvidal catches Diaz early, and he sends him to the shadow realm. However, I wouldn’t underestimate the pressure a fighter with the attacking output Diaz has could unleash.

The longer the fight goes, the more chance that Diaz has to take this one home. The odds are not that far apart, and this is a tight matchup. For what Diaz has shown in his career and recent fights, I’ll take a shot at the dog –bet Nate Diaz +135.
