2020 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Betting Odds & Pick – All-Star Weekend

The most hyped event of All-Star Weekend is by far the Slam Dunk Contest.
Four players showcase their insane athletic ability in what is always a spectacle.
Each player gets two dunks in the first round and the top two average scores move on to the finals where they will perform two more dunks.
The field this year is a real treat for fans and bettors. Let’s check it out.

NBA All-Star Weekend Slam Dunk Player Breakdown
Let’s take a look at the players’ form, part performances and what the odds say about them, and you’ll see why we’ve chosen our pick:
Aaron Gordon +125
Aaron Gordon was part of one of the best Slam Dunk contests back in 2016 when he battled Zach LaVine in multiple sudden-death rounds in the final.
Gordon, unfortunately, lost that year and hasn’t taken the trophy home yet.
His athleticism is still insane and he’s a really creative participant with his use of tech (drones in the past).
Derrick Jones Jr. +200
Derrick Jones Jr is probably the best raw dunker in this field.
His athletic ability lets him show off highlight-reel slams even during regular NBA games on a consistent basis.
Jones has also never won the dunk contest even though he has participated in the past.
Look for him to show a lot of flair and explosiveness as he tries to wow the crowd with his airtime.
Dwight Howard +400
Dwight Howard, the only former champion to compete this year, is also the biggest underdog in the field.
He won the contest back in 2008 when he first debuted his Superman gimmick.
He might be 34 years old, but he still has insane vertical ability and he knows that he’ll have to make up for his age with creativity.
Expect Dwight to use his experience and his flair for the dramatic in the contest.
Pat Connaughton +500
A relative no-name compared to the rest of the field, Pat Connaughton actually has one of the highest verticals in the entire league at 44 inches.
His “quiet” demeanor might fool some, but I’m sure he’s ready to show out when the lights are on him.
Connaughton can create some fireworks as most NBA fans will write him off as a long-shot to win.
Derrick Jones Jr +200
This is Jones Jr.’s year. I feel for Aaron Gordon in that he should’ve won back in 2016, but I think he’ll be left waiting another year.
Derrick Jones Jr has the raw athletic ability that makes it look like he’s flying in the air. His showmanship will be on full display in this contest which is a great indicator of who will win.
Those who win the crowd are most likely to win the contest and Jones Jr. has that in the bag.
At +200, Jones Jr.’s got the second-best odds to win, but he should be the favorite, which is why I’m locking him in to win the Slam Dunk Contest.
