Minnesota heads to the City of Brotherly Love as they take on an improved Sixers’ team as they try to climb out of a slide themselves.
The Wolves have four out of their last six games, including blowing a 12-point halftime lead on Sunday against Portland, which ended in a 95-89 home defeat to the Trail Blazers. The loss dropped their overall record to 11-23, ranking them 13th in the Western Conference. It’s been a disappointing year so far for Minnesota, which has a talented young roster and hoped to improve from last season.
Philadelphia has improved, but they still lack in the win column. However, compared to previous seasons, there is a lot of hope for this team going forward. The 76ers did win 124-122 last Friday in Denver, but that broke a four-game slide. They’re currently tied with the Brooklyn Nets with the worst record in the NBA at 8-23.
These two teams did face off at the Target Centre on Nov. 17th. The Wolves took that game 110-86. Minnesota guard, Andrew Wiggins, led all scorers with 35 points in the victory.
Minnesota opened as -4 road favorites. The odds have moved to -4.5 at most bookmakers after significant action on the Wolves. Nearly 80 percent of all wagers are coming in on Minnesota.
I don’t normally like going with the public, but this is a spot where the Timberwolves shouldn’t have any issues cruising to a victory. Let’s not forget, both teams struggle on defense, but the Wolves have no problems scoring.
They’re one of the top teams in the league when it comes to offensive efficiency. They have not been good on the road, but this is a nice bounce-back spot from Sunday’s loss. Both teams have plenty of rest, with Philly playing last Friday, but Minnesota should win this one with talent alone.
Pick: Timberwolves -4.5
Toronto Raptors at San Antonio Spurs -6 Total: 210.5
This isn’t Cleveland and Golden State facing off, but it’s as good as it gets when it comes to East versus West in the regular season. The Spurs will host the Raptors at the AT&T Center on Tuesday Night.
San Antonio is coming off a rare loss on Sunday, after losing to the Atlanta Hawks 114-112 to end a four-game win streak. Still, the Spurs are second in win percentage in the league, with a 27-7 record. They’re in second place in the Western Conference, just behind, the NBA-leading, Golden State Warriors.
The Raptors will finish up a West Coast road trip with tonight’s game in San Antonio before heading back northeast, back to Toronto. It hasn’t been the best road trip, with losses to the Suns and Warriors, but if they win tonight’s game – they will go 4-2 in their last six games.
Toronto broke a two-game losing streak with a 123-114 victory over the Lakers at Staples Center on Sunday. They’re in a similar position with the Spurs in the East. They are second in the conference with a record of 23-10, just behind the East-leading, Cleveland Cavaliers.
San Antonio opened as -5.5 home favorites in this contest. About 60 percent of wagers have come in on the Spurs so far, which has pushed the odds to -6 at just about every sportsbook online.
Everyone seems to sleep on the Spurs, even when they’re performing better than just about every team in the NBA. They rightfully looked sluggish in Sunday’s game, but this is an excellent bounce-back opportunity for them.
Kawhi Leonard will play tonight and fully recovered from his stomach that bothered him last week. His lock down defense will be a big help against a pure scorer like DeMar DeRozan. San Antonio has an elite bench and excellent role players and won’t take it easy on Toronto tonight.
Pick: Spurs -6
