The Bucks haven’t lost a game in 2017 yet and have a good chance to another victory in the new year as they head to Madison Square Garden to take on the Knicks.
Milwaukee improved their record to 17-16 in the Eastern Conference after defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 98-94 on Jan. 2nd. One of the hottest point guards in the league continued his dominance against OKC. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 26 points and added ten boards and five assists in the hard-fought victory.
New York is headed in the opposite direction. The Knicks have lost five games in a row and have just two wins in their last ten contests. Their latest loss was on Monday against the visiting Magic 115-103. They’re now tenth in the East, with a 16-18 record.
The odds in this one originally opened as a pk. However, after significant betting action on Milwaukee, the odds have shifted to Bucks -2.5.
We’re going with the market move on this one, as there are few better matchups on the slate than the Bucks versus the Knicks. New York just isn’t the same without forward, Kristaps Porzingis and he is doubtful once again tonight.
Milwaukee is a team that lives in the paint, and this is an area that the Knicks truly struggle. New York has also been awful this year against teams above .500, going just 3-12 against teams that have a winning record.
Pick: Bucks -2.5
Miami Heat at Sacramento Kings -8.5 Total: 202
Miami heads Sacramento to continue their West Coast road trip to face a Kings’ team that is looking to build off their victory last night.
The Heat were also in action last night but fell to the Suns in Phoenix 99-90. The defeat dropped their overall record to 10-26, which is one of the worst marks in the league. Miami only had 8 active players last night due to injuries.
It is unclear who will be active tonight for Miami. Several players suffered from migraines or illnesses which kept them out last night. Center, Hassan Whiteside, has a chance of suiting up tonight, but he is unlikely to play. He didn’t accompany the team to Phoenix.
Sacramento is also coming off a game last night. The Kings took it to the Denver Nuggets last night at the Pepsi Center, winning 120-113. The victory improved their record to 15-19. If the season ended today, the Kings would sneak into the playoffs with the 8th seed in the West.
The odds opened with the Kings as -8.5 favorites. The odds haven’t changed for the most part at most online bookmakers. The Heat are getting the majority of bets from the public so far.
Although Miami lost last night, they played a hard-fought game and looked comfortable, even with just eight guys active. That is certainly almost going to change tonight, and they have another excellent matchup on the offensive end.
If they can keep it going offensively in this one and score 100 or so points, their defense has a good chance to stifle a Kings team that runs a vanilla offense. This isn’t the ideal spot for Miami, but they should have no issues keeping this one close down to the wire.
Pick: Heat +8.5
