Chicago Bulls at Washington Wizards -11 Total: 203.5
The now-struggling Bulls will head to the nation’s capital to take on the Wizards. Washington has been lights out at home and are looking for their tenth straight victory at the Verizon Center.
Chicago had a three-game win streak snapped yesterday with a 109-94 loss to the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder. Their recent win streak was a welcome sign, but they have been an up and down team for most of the season. They’re also still a spot out of the playoff race with a 19-19 record, which ranks 9th in the Eastern Conference.
The Bulls will be severely short-handed tonight. Dwayne Wade will be out tonight for rest purposes while Jimmy Butler will miss tonight’s game with an illness. Rajon Rondo, who has fallen out of the rotation, may even get a chance to play this evening.
Washington has been a hot and cold team this year as well. Currently, they’re in the 7th spot in the East with an 18-18 record. They are coming off two straight victories, including a 107-101 win at Milwaukee on Sunday.
The spread opened with the Wizards as -10 favorites. However, that has moved to -11 at most sportsbooks as of this writing. Both the sharps and the public appear to like Washington. The odds have moved with betting patterns, which have 70 percent or so of bets coming in on the Wizards.
This one is one we suggest bettors jump on immediately, as the odds could move further as we get closer to tip-off. This bet isn’t as much an endorsement of the Wizards, as it is the state of the Bulls.
They’re without their top two leading scorers and ball handlers. Creating offense will be a struggle for them, even against a weak defensive team, such as Washington. Lay the points with the home team that is has been lights out at the Verizon Center as of late.
Pick: Wizards -11
Milwaukee Bucks at San Antonio Spurs -10.5 Total: 203.5
Milwaukee comes to the AT&T Center looking to break a two-game slide. The Spurs hope to continue their dominance in front of their home fans.
The Bucks are a team with a lot of young talent, but they haven’t been able to put it together night in and night out, just yet. They’re currently tied with the Washington Wizards in record with an 18-18 mark.
The Bucks lost to the Wizards on Sunday and to a weak Knicks team last Friday. They’re currently still in the playoff picture in the East but will need to pick it up as we approach the second half of the season.
Even without Tim Duncan, the Spurs are still arguably the best team in the NBA. They trail just the Golden State Warriors in record and are in second place in the Western Conference. They have won three in a row, including a 102-85 defeat against the visiting Hornets. The win put their record at 30-7.
Betting action has favored the Spurs so far, but the odds have moved just slightly to -10.5 after opening at San Antonio -10. The total has gone down slightly, opening at 205.5 and now sitting at 202 at most bookmakers.
The Bucks should be at full strength in this one, but it’s still a spot I love San Antonio. They’re nearly unbeatable at home and when they have a young team coming into their house – it’s extremely tough for teams like the Bucks to come out on top.
I’m going with the home favorite once again.
Pick: Spurs -10.5
