Oklahoma City Thunder at Memphis Grizzlies -1.5 Total: 198

The Thunder travel to Memphis to take a Grizzlies’ team that is reeling from two road losses. This game has among the lowest totals on the evening but should be a hard-fought Western Conference battle.

Oklahoma City is gelling in a big way right now. They come into this game after defeating the Miami Heat last night in South Beach 106-94 to earn their fifth straight victory. The win improved their record to 20-12 on the year and as mostly due in part to MVP candidate, Russell Westbrook. Westbrook once again notched a triple-double, scoring 29 points, 11 dishes and 17 rebounds. His 15th triple-double leads the league.

The Grizzlies look to rebound on their home floor after two straight losses on the road. Their last defeat came on Tuesday, an 113-103 loss at Boston. The loss dropped their record to 20-14 on the season, which is still good enough for 7th in Western Conference.

Memphis opened a 1.5 favorite and that’s where they stand at most online sportsbooks. The odds have not moved in favor of the Thunder, despite OKC receiving more than 60 percent of wagers so far.

This is a fantastic spot for Memphis, even with Conley questionable to play tonight. The Thunder are coming off a game last night, and the Grizzlies always play better at home than they do on the road.

Tony Allen is one of the few elite defenders in the NBA that can corral Westbrook. Not only that, the odds haven’t shifted, despite most of the public placing their bets on the Thunder. I love this spot for the home team tonight.

Pick: Grizzlies -1.5

Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles Lakers -2.5 Total: 204.5

The Mavericks face the Lakers at Staples Centre in what could be billed as a battle of futility. Both Western Conference franchises are near the bottom of the standings and could desperately use a victory.

Dallas is tied with the Phoenix Suns for the worst record in the West after dropping yet another game to the Rockets on Tuesday. Their record is now 9-23 and any hopes of a postseason berth this year are all but mathematically gone.

However, they have won two out of their last four games, including wins against the Clippers in L.A. and against the Trail Blazers in Portland. They have been in more games than earlier in the year and have been blown out a lot less frequently.

After a strong start to the season, the Lakers appear to be in free-fall mode. They have won just 13 out of their last 16 and have seen their record fall to 12-23. Most recently, they lost at home to the visiting Utah Jazz 102-100 on Tuesday.

The Lakers opened as -3 home favorites. Despite them getting more than 60 percent of wagers so far, the odds have moved to -2.5.

There isn’t a worse team in the NBA right now than the L.A. Lakers. They don’t have the worst record, but they are fallen off completely from their excellent start to the season. Their defense is in shambles and offensively, they have been far more inefficient as of late.

The opposite is true for Dallas, a veteran-led team, with an experienced head coach and a slowly improving roster. The team still has major issues with overall talent, but they’re playing well enough to beat the Lakers tonight.

Pick: Mavericks +2.5
