Memphis travels to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder tonight. They have faced each other twice this season with the Grizzlies taking the first game in Memphis and the Thunder winning a Jan. 11th meeting at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Memphis is having another solid season as they head into tonight’s matchup. They’re riding a three-game winning streak and have played some of their best basketball of the season over the last few days.
They defeated the Nuggets in Utah 119-99 on Wednesday night, thanks to a massive game by Marc Gasol. The victory moved their record to 30-21. They’re in the middle of another strong season and are currently the 6th seeded team in the West if the playoffs began tomorrow.
After a hot start to the season, the Thunder have slowed down. They’re dropping in the Western Conference standings, but will still likely make the postseason due to their significant lead over the 8th seeded Trail Blazers. However, they can’t be happy with their recent run of play.
Oklahoma City’s record dropped to 28-22 after losing 128-100 to the visiting Chicago Bulls on Wednesday. The loss was their third straight. They’re just one spot ahead of the Grizzlies in the West as the 7th seed.
The odds have moved quite a bit since opening. The Thunder initially opened as a -1.5 favorite. Betting action has been even, but sharps have moved the odds to Memphis -1 at most sportsbooks as of this writing.
Although the spread is close, I could easily see the Thunder being blown out of their own building tonight. They’re playing sloppy basketball, and their defense has been especially weak over the past few games. If Memphis can score, which they should no issues doing tonight – they should win this one handily.
If you got Memphis as an underdog, you’ve got an excellent wager that is sure to beat the market. However, I still think there is plenty of value with the Grizzlies at -1 or even -1.5. The moneyline looks good, as well.
Pick: Memphis -1
