Cleveland Cavaliers at Chicago Bulls +5.5 Total: 211.5
Cleveland has been in awful slide as we approach the end of the season. They have lost three out of their last four games, with all their defeats coming by double-digits. This has led to LeBron James and Kyrie Irving voicing their opinion on the team’s issues.
The Cavaliers are no longer in the top spot in the East after losing to the Spurs on Monday. Currently, they are tied in win percentage with the Celtics, and both teams are two games behind the Wizards. Cleveland isn’t having a bad season by any stretch, but are not playing good basketball now. They should still get to 50 wins and currently have a 47-26 record.
As it stands today, the Bulls are on the outside looking in at the playoff picture. They’re coming off a victory on Sunday at Milwaukee. As it stands now, they are 1.5 games back of the Pacers for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Chicago’s season has been a disappointment, but they do still have plenty to play for as they come into this game tonight. They’re easily the favorites to take the final playoff spot if the Pacers fade down the stretch.
The Cavaliers opened as a -5.5-road favorite in this one. So far, the line has not moved, despite heavy betting action on Cleveland. Over 70 percent of wagers are coming on LeBron James and Company.
Rationalizing betting on Cleveland in tonight’s contest is hard. Yes, they’re the better team talent wise and on paper, but they’re playing poorly, and their defense has been unbelievably bad over the past two weeks.
The betting action also tells us a story. Despite heavy betting on the Cavs, the line has not moved in their favor. In fact, I suspect as the day goes on, that we will see the odds go to -5 or -4.5, after sharp action comes in on the Bulls later in the day. For that reason, I’d suggest grabbing this one early.
Pick: Chicago +5.5
