NBA Consensus Picks – Rockets Vs. Lakers | Betting Odds
The fun part about the second half of the NBA season is that teams are running out of time. LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are one of those teams, and they are about to face a hungry James Harden and the rest of the Houston Rockets on Thursday Night. If the season finished today, the Lakers would be out of the playoffs. I don’t think LeBron James or any LA fan envisioned something like this when he moved to Hollywood.
Houston Rockets Vs. Los Angeles Lakers Predictions
Los Angeles dropped four of their last five games before the All-Star break, including the previous two against the Philadelphia 76ers and the Atlanta Hawks. The Lakers are one game behind .500 and the locker room imploded with the news of Anthony Davis’ possible trade at the deadline. It’s a toxic environment out there, even with a veteran like James leading the way. No other team needed the All-Star break more than Los Angeles.
Houston didn’t close out the first half of the season on a good note either, but their chances are way better than the Lakers’. The Rockers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a game where they were up by 20 points at some point. Then, once again, they dropped one against the Minnesota Timberwolves. James Harden knows his streak is a big deal around the social media world. He has scored at least 30 points in 31 consecutive games. It’s the second longest active streak. I would be surprised if Harden doesn’t keep adding with games with 30+ points. At this point on his career, he looked pretty much unstoppable.
This will be the fourth and last time the Lakers and the Rockets meet this season. Houston has won the previous three meetings, including a 138-134 win the last time they met. That game went into overtime. The Rockets covered the spread in two of those three games this season. For this meeting, Houston will be the favorite, but it won’t have to deal with a big spread because they are on the road. That favors all NBA betting fans looking to cash in with the Rockets. They are clearly the better team.
