Game 1 Recap
Thursday’s game wasn’t much of a competition at all. The Warriors dominated Cavaliers from start to finish, winning by a score of 113-91, in a game that wasn’t close by the time the fourth quarter started.
LeBron James contributed 28 points in 40 minutes from 9-20 from the field, but Cleveland’s defense didn’t do much to stop the Warriors. Kevin Durant scored 38 points to go along with stuff Curry’s 28 points and ten assists.
The game would have likely been more out of hand if Draymond Green and Klay Thompson had hit more of their shots. They combined to shoot just six from 28 from the field.
The Warriors opened as a -8 favorite for Game 2. Almost 70 percent of wagers have come in on Golden State of this writing. The odds have moved to -8.5 or -9 at online bookmakers. Currently, the odds at Bovada are Warriors -9.
The total opened at 221.5 points. Betting action has been relatively even between the over and under. The total has not moved off the opening number. It’s at 220.5 or 221 depending on where you look.
It’s easy to put another bet on the Warriors to win again in blowout fashion, but with the spread at -9 this time – it’s tough to go down that road again after the odds have moved. I think the best play on this game comes with the total.
Cleveland is not as poor of a defensive team as they showed last game. They’re above-average on the pick n’ roll, and I expect them to come to play in this one. Likewise, the Warriors are a strong defensive team.
These totals seem a little over-inflated. Perhaps it’s the additional betting interest of the public when it comes to the playoffs, or it’s Golden State’s impressive offense. Either way, I think this one goes under and expect the total to drop by tip off.
Pick: Under 221
