We’re back with NBA action after an extended break. There are two games on the schedule tonight, and we have plays for both.

Toronto Raptors at Cleveland Cavaliers -7.5 Total: 213.5
The Cavaliers lead the series 1-0 after dismantling the Raptors 116-105 in the opening game of the series. Cleveland has looked dominant so far in the postseason, after finishing the regular season not looking too impressive. They haven’t lost a game in the playoffs, after sweeping the Pacers 4-0 in round one.
Toronto managed to get through to the second round of the postseason, but it took six games against the Milwaukee Bucks to get here. The series was hard fought, and the Raptors trailed 2-1 after three games before rallying to beat the Milwaukee.
Cleveland opened as a -7.5 favorite. At many sportsbooks, the line has already shifted to -7. However, some bookies still have Cleveland at -7.5 with increased vig up to -115. The total opened at 213.5 and hasn’t moved much off that number.
I fully expect Toronto to lose this series, perhaps in five games, but there are reasons to like them tonight. Cleveland’s defense is still awful, and if they can hit their shots, then there is plenty of reason to think they can keep this one close or, dare I say it, win outright.
I normally wait until Game 3 to take an underdog in this spot, after they lost the first two games, but there’s already a sense of urgency with Toronto. I expect a strong effort from the road team tonight.
Pick: Raptors +7.5
Houston Rockets at San Antonio Spurs -5.5 Total: 215
The Rockets took care of business against the Spurs in Game 1. They put on an offensive clinic and now lead the series 1-0. Houston’s James Harden scored 27 points and filled up the stat sheet in other areas, in route to a 126-99 victory against San Antonio.
San Antonio had a tougher time with Memphis in the previous series than many expected. They’re perhaps the most seasoned team regarding playoffs experience, and Gregg Popovich’s team should bounce back tonight.
Betting action has been split on both teams after the Spurs opened as a -5 favorite. The odds now are at -5.5 across the board. The total opened at 216 but has not from this number.
As mentioned above, a bounce-back for the Spurs in this spot makes a ton of sense. Yes, they got beat by 28 points in Game 1, but who can doubt this team’s resiliency, coaching, and talent. I like them to win in Game 2, perhaps by double-digits.
With that said, I would make this smaller play than the Raptors. Houston’s offense running through Harden has given them their best record and years. No team, aside from, maybe the Warriors can match their offensive firepower. I could easily see Houston winning this series, but still like San Antonio tonight.
Pick: Spurs -5.5
