Houston Rockets at San Antonio Spurs -5.5 Total: 214.5
With the series tied 2-2, we have seen the absolute worst and best out of both the Rockets and Spurs.
Houston blew out San Antonio on Sunday evening, unleashing an offensive clinic in a 125-104 victory. James Harden, the frontrunner for league MVP, was magnificent, dropping 28 points and 12 assists. The Rockets bench stepped up in a big way, as it contributed 50 points, mostly from Eric Gordon and Lou Williams.
The Spurs did not lead in the contest and former NBA Finals-MVP, Kawhi Leonard, managed just 16 points. So far, the series has been mostly blowouts from both sides, aside from Game 3, where the Spurs won 103-92.
The Spurs opened this game as a -6 favorite. San Antonio has gotten most wagers so far, but not by a significant margin. Despite that, the odds have moved to -5.5 at most sportsbooks. The total opened at 215 but is now at 214.5. Over 70 percent of bets have come in on the over so far, but the total has dropped slightly.
I hate to say it, but the Spurs lack of effort in this series has been concerning. Gregg Popovich’s teams never seem to have this problem, but perhaps the Rockets are simply just too good of an offensive team to be held under wraps, even by one of the NBA’s best defensive teams.
I have little doubt that Houston comes to play in this one. Is this a “get-right” spot for the Spurs? Sure, but that doesn’t mean they will regain their championship form and shut down Houston. The Rockets bench is so deep that at this point – I’m not sure the Spurs can stop them.
Give me the points on the road.
