Nebraska Cornhuskers Vs. Ohio State Predictions

I have to be honest. I was expecting Ohio State to be a bigger favorite than just 17-points against a struggling Nebraska team. The oddsmakers at Mybookie.ag initially made the Buckeyes 21-point favorites, but the line quickly went down. 68% of the betting public is taking advantage of the low spread and have put money on the home team. I get that Ohio State had a blunder against Purdue last week. Their 49-20 loss to the Boilermakers was perhaps the program’s worst game since Urban Meyer is their head coach. But precisely because of it, I expect them to bounce back with a furious response.

For the Buckeyes to have a shot at the College Football playoffs, they need to hammer every opponent left. And it all starts with Nebraska. Ohio State still has to face Michigan State and Michigan. There is plenty of room to get enough credit back. But they need a big win this weekend. Nebraska seems to have found their stride by beating Minnesota and Bethune-Cookman averaging 49.0 points in those wins. The problem is we haven’t forgotten the Cornhuskers lost their first six games of the season. I’m not going to simply buy into them all of a sudden just because they easily beat to below average teams.

Ohio State still averages 43.8 points per game (8th) this season and has enough weapons to clubber Nebraska. These two programs have met during the last two seasons, both times with the Buckeyes ending as winners. But the biggest thing you need to know about those wins is Ohio State won by a combined 101 points. The Cornhuskers haven’t won once in the last five games on the road. The Buckeyes are 12-1 in their previous 13 games, including a 5-0 record playing at home. Don’t overthink this game. Just follow the best team and let them take care of the rest. What’s the play? Ohio State -17.
