New Orleans Pelicans Vs. Los Angeles Lakers Predictions
Seeing a team with Anthony Davis in their roster at the bottom at the Southwest division standings is a hard pill to swallow. The brow is one of the players in the NBA, and with him, the New Orleans Pelicans shouldn’t be in this mess. The Pelicans will try to gain any sort of momentum when they visit the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday Night.
Both the Pelicans and the Lakers are long shots to win the NBA title, to say the least. New Orleans is at +6000 to win the NBA Championship according to MyBookie.ag. Los Angeles is at +2000. Seeing any of these two squads represent the Western Conference in June would be a surprise. They still going to try to make it happen.
Other than the Houston Rockets, it is safe to say the New Orleans Pelicans have been the most disappointing team in the Western Conference. I don’t think any of us was expected the Pelicans to be title contenders, but being two games under .500 in December is way below the expectations.
New Orleans enters this game after dropping three of their last four games. Their last outing was a 123-115 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. They did cover the spread as a 9-point dog, but it hard to trust this team on a nightly basis. Anthony Davis averages 28.0 PPG and 12.3 rebounds this season, but who is their second-best player? I’ll bet you can’t name it. The Lakers are also a team not having the best week. Los Angeles has lost three of their last four, and they have failed to cover the spread in four of the previous five outings. LeBron James and company will have a tough stretch in the next few weeks, including facing the Golden State Warriors on Christmas day.
Both teams are having an awful couple of weeks, and they can’t be trusted either way. But the Pelicans have had the Lakers number over the past few meetings. New Orleans has won and covered the spread in five of the last six games in the series. Granted this is the first time they face LA with Lebron James in the lineup, but the Lakers don’t have anybody that can guard Anthony Davis. I’m taking New Orleans with the points. The brow is a bad matchup for anybody, and he loves playing at the Staples Center. He might give the LA crowd a taste of what they might see next season. A Davis move to Hollywood is getting a lot of noise lately.
