New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons 2019 Thanksgiving NFL Game Betting odds and pick

2019 Thanksgiving Game: New Orleans Saints (9-2) At Atlanta Falcons (3-8) Betting Preview

When the NFL scheduled the Saints facing off the Falcons on Thanksgiving night, they were hoping for a huge matchup. Instead, Atlanta’s season took a turn for the worst a while ago, and they have nothing to fight for now.

The Falcons, however, would be happy if they can give the Saints a big fat L on National TV.

Let’s see what this New Orleans vs. Atlanta contest has for us on Thursday Night.

In many markets, the betting has dropped to -6.5, and some sports betting sites is even as low as -6.

The New Orleans Saints’ Edge vs. Falcons

The New Orleans Saints have played three straight divisional games. In two of them, they haven’t look that well, even losing to the Falcons at home three weeks ago.

In fact, since the return of Drew Brees, the Saints haven’t shown their best side. That’s even if their offense is averaging 32.0 points per game in the three wins New Orleans has earned since Drew came back to the starting QB position.

Scoring More Points Than They Allow Despite Poor Defense

The problem with the Saints is not on the offensive side, but instead, it is the defense. New Orleans has allowed 24.6 points per game in the last three weeks. In two of those games, they have missed CB Marshon Lattimore, and that’s a big deal.

The good thing about New Orleans is most of the time they are going to score more points than they give up. A lot has to do with Michael Thomas, who has been unstoppable all season. Thomas leads the NFL with 1242 receiving yards. That’s more than 180 yards than the next guy in line.

The Atlanta Falcons’ Edge vs. The Saints

Atlanta had a good chance to turn around the season on Sunday. They entered Week 12 with two wins in a row, and Tampa Bay didn’t look menacing enough. Yet, the Falcons lost 35-22 at home and could never stop the Bucs offense.

The Atlanta Falcons surprised the Saints three weeks ago by holding the New Orleans’ offense to just nine points while keeping Drew Brees out of the end zone. While that’s great, that scenario is unlikely to be repeated. We all know stopping Brees is far from easy.

Rivalry Game On The Line With Big Spread

Atlanta is getting seven points at home by the oddsmakers. That’s a massive spread for the Saints to cover on the road in a rivalry game.

Since 2015, the Falcons have lost two of their last four games at home against the Saints, yet those games have been close. New Orleans hasn’t won by more than six points in those scenarios.

New Orleans Saints At Atlanta Falcons Thanksgiving Prediction

The season for these teams has been very different. The Saints are a true Super Bowl contender, and the Falcons are trying to see if their HC Dan Quinn is worth keeping another season.

However, even if the present and upcoming future are so different, this game remains a rivalry contest and needs to be looked at differently. Atlanta is not going to make it easy for New Orleans during Primetime and especially on Thanksgiving night.

Saints No Longer Look Like A Top NFL Team

New Orleans has been up and down over the last month of competition. At some point, they looked like the best team in the NFL, but they don’t anymore. Laying down seven points to a squad that almost lost to the Carolina Panthers at home on Sunday, doesn’t sound like good business.

When betting on football, we are always looking for a good number instead of just a good team. The Falcons +7 at home on a short week is a good number. Bet Atlanta +7.
