Vancouver Canucks Vs. Colorado Avalanche Predictions
Let’s take a look at the landscape in the West. The Dallas Stars and the Minnesota Wild have the two wild card spots in the conference. Dallas has 67 points and Minnesota 66, but five teams are aiming to catch them and steal one of those spots. At this point in the season, the race for the wildcard seeds is open and promises to be wild. No pun intended. Vancouver and Colorado and in the mix, just a few wins behind. When they meet on Wednesday, they will have the chance, both to get closer and hit the chances of an immediate competitor.
The Canucks won their last outing 4-0 over the Anaheim Ducks, sending a direct opponent to the bottom of this race. The win cut a three-game losing streak. It was also the first clean sheet for goalie Jacob Markstrom during the entire season. Colorado lost to Florida 4-3 in their last game, in a very well fought game. The Avalanche saw a four-game winning streak come to an end. It was perhaps one of their most impressive runs of the season, scoring 20 goals while allowing just four against teams like the Vegas Golden Knights, Winnipeg Jets, the Chicago Blackhawks, and the Nashville Predators.
Vancouver has dominated the series over the last ten games, posting a 7-3 record in those games against Colorado. The last time they met, the Canucks hammered the Avalanche 5-1 in Colorado. Vancouver cashed as a +145 dog on the road. With that said, it’s hard to go against Colorado with the performances showed over the last two weeks. Their offense form has been outstanding. While their matchup against Vancouver seems like a bad one for them, the momentum is clearly on the Avalanche’s side. I will take the over six goals in this one and the win by the home team. Colorado is in a playoff mood, and home ice should play a factor in their favor.
What’s the play? Colorado.
