North Carolina Vs. Michigan – NCAA College Basketball Picks | Betting Odds
A win by Michigan over North Carolina might help the Wolverines fans forget they were blown out by Ohio State last weekend in College Football. It might, but then against a loss to the Tar Heels will only increase their misery. Michigan and North Carolina are set to meet on Wednesday Night at the Crisler Center, in Ann Arbor, Michigan as part of the ACC/BIG TEN College Basketball Challenge.
North Carolina Tar Heels Vs. Michigan Wolverines Predictions
The Wolverines have had an easy schedule this season. It’s part of the reason they still unbeaten after six games. However, they have one significant win in their resume. Their 73-46 win at Villanova against the Wildcats was a shocker. Not by the victory itself but by the result and the margin. Michigan covered as a 6.5-point underdog on the road by destroying Nova by 27 points. That’s quite the development. The Wolverines are listed at Mybookie.ag as a +2500 to win the College Basketball title.
Michigan has done it with their defense and their ability to stay disciplined within their style of play. They have the nation’s best points per game defense, allowing 48.3 points each night. Of course, those numbers look like that when you face teams like Norfolk State, Holy Cross, George Washington, Providence, and Chattanooga. But to their point, they did hold Villanova to just 46 points. North Carolina hasn’t scored fewer than 78 points all season. Three times they reached the 100-points mark. They are the ultimate test for Michigan’s defense. It’s a battle of different styles, and someone has to give. The Tar Heels are +2500 at Mybookie.ag to win the Men’s College Basketball title, just like Michigan.
The Tar Heels bounced back off their only loss to the season against Texans, by beating UCLA 94-78 in their last outing. The spread had them as 10-point favorites on the road against the Bruins, and they were able to cover while winning by 16 points. Last season these two programs met in November and North Carolina ended up with a 15-point win at home. I can’t see a scenario where the difference between the two is that big, but the Tar Heels are favorites in my mind despite going on the road.
The problem with betting on defensive teams like Michigan is they must play almost a perfect game to keep up with the offensive juggernauts like North Carolina. The Tar Heels average 96.5 per game this season; that’s nearly 26+ points per game more than the Wolverines. While that number might be lower on Wednesday Night because of Michigan’s defensive approach, still is a lot to handle for the home team. I have North Carolina winning by six.
