Nuggets Vs. Spurs Expert Picks | Betting Odds Game 4
Denver Nuggets vs. San Antonio Spurs Betting Preview
For many, the Nuggets were a fluke number two seed in the Western Conference, and the San Antonio Spurs are actively trying to show it. Game 4 of their first-round series has the Nuggets in need for a win on the road. Let’s say it as it is. The Nuggets have been outplayed in all three games of the series so far. Yes, the series is 2-1, but if it wasn’t because Jamal Murray had a breakout fourth quarter in game two, this will be pretty much over.
Denver needs a win in Game 4. They don’t have the players or the skill set to come back from a 3-1 down. They know it, and the rest of the world knows it, as well. Before Game 3, the series price had the Nuggets -150 to win and advance. MyBookie.ag hasn’t revealed the series betting line after San Antonio’s win on Thursday, but that game alone should swing the series to the other side. Coach Gregg Popovich has done a fantastic job in this series, and he has taken Nuggets coach Michael Malone to school. The difference in coaching is enormous. Malone is an outstanding coach, but Pop is on another level.
The other issue is that Denver doesn’t seem to have an answer for Derrick White, who has changed the complexity of this series by himself. White shot 15 of 21 from the field in Game 3 to lead his team with 36 points. He has been averaging 23.0 points per game during the postseason shooting an insane 69% from the field. The implied probability for Game 4 suggests the Spurs have a 63% of winning the meeting on Saturday and getting to a 3-1 lead.
The asking price for the spread is 3.5-points at home, which is nothing significant. The first three games of the series were decided by a 6.3 margin of average. We still haven’t had a one-possession game in the last minute.
Denver was the best team at home in the entire NBA regular season, but they were pedestrian when playing on the road. The Nuggets were one of the two teams in the Western Conference that reached the playoffs with a losing record on the road. They posted a 20-21 record during the season. And to be fair, we don’t talk enough about how good the Spurs were when playing at home this season.
They lost only two games more than the Nuggets, who had the best record in the entire league. So now we are asking Denver to leave their comfort zone and win on the road against a team that’s just as good as them at home. It looks like a tough ask. Let me grab the Spurs to win and cover the spread. Nothing that I have seen in this series makes me believe the Nuggets can steal home court back. What’s the play? Spurs -3.5.
