The Tigers Powered Through
The Auburn Tigers once again challenged themselves with a grueling and tough schedule in 2019, and they finished the season with a record of 9-3. The Tigers went 5-3 in SEC play, but they did finish the season by winning two straight games.
Auburn pulled off a terrific upset win over the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Iron Bowl, which should give it plenty of momentum heading into this game.
Outstanding Defense
Auburn outscored its opponents by close to 18 points per game this season, and its defense was one of the biggest reasons why. Defensive end Marlon Davidson leads the team with 7.5 sacks, and the Tigers have racked up 28 of them on the season.
Freshman quarterback Bo Nix threw just 15 touchdowns during the season and completed just 57 percent of his pass attempts.
The Tigers will run the ball, as they averaged 211 rushing yards per game. Auburn can score points in a variety of ways, but its defense is what makes it stand out.

Both of these teams have had terrific seasons, but Minnesota was a much bigger surprise in 2019. The Golden Gophers put together a terrific resume, but they struggled a bit down the stretch.
