Philadelphia Eagles Vs. Dallas Cowboys NFL Week 7 Betting Picks And Odds

Philadelphia Eagles Vs. Dallas Cowboys NFL Week 7 Expert Picks And Odds Analysis

The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys will battle it out this weekend to see which team takes the top spot in the NFC East. Both teams made the playoffs last season but are 3-3 after six weeks of play this year.

Looking at the way the NFC is shaping up, only one of them will get to the postseason. This means the Sunday Night Football matchup might have playoff implications attached to it.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ Edge vs. The Cowboys?

Philadelphia had one of its worst showings of the season in Minnesota last week. Their secondary looked horrible, but here is a week they can bounce back.

The Eagles will face a Cowboys attack that is struggling in the passing game. Dak Prescott completed 28 of 40 passes for 278 yards against the Jets last week. Most of his yards were in desperation mode, trying to save a game that they should have never lost.

Philadelphia’s secondary defense needs to rebound, and facing Dak comes in handy. Prescott has thrown just two touchdowns against four interceptions in the Cowboys’ three straight losses to the Saints, Packers, and Jets.

The Eagles Strategy

The Eagles need to stick with the run game in this one. Philadelphia recorded an average of 32.5 rushing attempts in the wins over the NY Jets and Green Bay Packers. Instead, against Minnesota, they abandoned the run because they had to chase the game.

Two weeks ago, Packers’ RB Aaron Jones ran for 108 yards and four scores over the Cowboys in Dallas. Between Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders, the Eagles can get the job done on the ground.

The Dallas Cowboys’ Edge vs. The Eagles?

The Cowboys offense has stalled since experts anointed OC Kellen Moore as the next best thing in the NFL. If we look at the numbers as a whole, Dallas has the 3rd best passing offense in the NFL and 7th best passing the football.

But those numbers are tricky. Most of those yards came in the wins over the Giants, Redskins, and Dolphins in the first three weeks. Then, in the next three weeks, they have been chasing results, trying to come back from bad starts.

Establishing the run is the only way Dallas wins this game. If Ezekiel Elliott doesn’t have a big game, there is no chance for the Cowboys. If Zeke establishes dominance early, then the rest of the offense will open for Dak.

Dallas understands that this is a game they must win. Sometimes Xs and Os take a backseat to the urgency of a team in need of a win. The Cowboys have lost three straight, and their desperation makes them dangerous.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys Week 7 Prediction

This is not an easy game to handicap, especially with these two teams stumbling around .500 in the first six weeks.

I feel like I trust the Eagles a little more than the Cowboys right now. Philly beat Green Bay just three weeks ago at Lambeau Field, and that could be considered a marquee win for the franchise. Dallas hasn’t given us that in 2019.

Also, keep in mind WR Amari Cooper (quadriceps), WR Randall Cobb (back), LT Tyron Smith (ankle), OT La’el Collins (knee), CB Byron Jones (hamstring), and CB Anthony Brown (hamstring) didn’t practice on Wednesday.

The Concerns In Dallas About Cooper And Smith

There is a real concern in Dallas about Cooper and Smith’s availability for Sunday Night. The Cowboys are not deep or good enough to win when missing big names. They are not a well-coached team, which means they can’t afford to be without star players.

All the signs point to Philadelphia being the best bet in this game. They are healthier, and I trust coach Doug Pederson so much more than Jason Garret. I know you do too — bet Eagles +3.
