Poland Vs Senegal World Cup Picks – Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips
Group H is one of the toughest groups in the World Cup. It makes up Colombia, Poland, Senegal, and Japan. The Japanese and the Colombians will play a few hours earlier before Poland and Senegal square off. Poland has not gone past the group stage since 1986. Their best finish was third place in the 1974 and 1982 World Cups. Senegal has only made a single World Cup, but they did reach the quarter-final stage in their lone appearance in the 2002 tournament. My 2018 World Cup pick for June 19th is below and the odds can be found at Sportsbetting – Don’t Miss 50% Up To $1000 Deposit Bonus.
Poland Vs Senegal – Recent Form & Injury
Poland was unlucky to go out of the Euro 2016 on penalties and still have much of their core intact. Poland will mostly be relying on their all-time leading goal scorer in Robert Lewandowski, but also have an excellent trio of, Blaszczykowski, Zielinski, and Grosicki. They have won two of their last four friendlies leading up to the World Cup. They’re mostly healthy aside from Kamil Gilk, who will not play in the World Cup due to a shoulder injury. He was one of the pillars of their defense and will be a big loss to the Polish side.
Senegal edged out South Africa, Cape Verde Islands, and Burkina Faso in qualification to earn a spot in Russia. They will be led by Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, who has 20 goals in 44 appearances for his club this season. Other notables from the EPL include Ndiaye, Gueye, and Kouyate. It’s been a rough start for African sides this World Cup, with Nigeria losing 2-0 to Croatia and Egypt dropping Morocco 1-0 in the final minutes. Senegal is healthy will likely need at least a draw in this game if they wish to advance. They drew three out of their five last friendlies. They did lose to Croatia 2-1 but managed to finish on a high note with a defeat against South Korea 2-0.
Poland pk (-1/2) Vs Senegal pk ( +1/2) Betting Odds
This game is close on the Asian handicap, with Poland the slight favorite in what should be a close game. Poland to win the game outright is listed at +132, with Senegal at +235 to win, and a draw at +205. I like Poland to get a result in this one, but I could still see a draw as a likely outcome. The Polish certainly could have gone farther in previous tournaments. They qualified easily and looked excellent leading up the World Cup.
Senegal is a good team, but as we’ve seen from Africa teams so far this tournament, they have not shown to be quality sides. Their record leading up to the World Cup and top of their group in qualification doesn’t impress me much. The same goes for their 2-0 win against South Korea. I think Poland has the class to win this one. I like them at pk, -1/2 goals and at +132 to win outright.
