Ohio and Nevada will meet with the spotlight all to themselves on a Friday afternoon in Boise on Jan. 3. There are no other bowl games that day, and football fans will have to get their fix with the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

Mybookie.ag has Ohio as a 7.5-point favorite, with the total set at 58.5. A lot of action is coming in on the over, as it had opened at 54.5. The opening spread was Ohio -7, so nothing drastic has happened with spread movement.

Bobcats Want To Keep Offense Rolling

Going away from home got the Ohio offense going to end the year. The Bobcats traveled to Bowling Green and hung 66 on the Falcons, then went to Akron and put up 52. Now before you run to your phone and bet on the over and Ohio, the two teams they beat combined for three wins on the season.

The Bobcats will be headed to their fifth straight bowl and 10th in the last 11 years, showing how good they have been in the MAC. Last year, they defeated Utah State 24-23 in this same bowl, so they should be very comfortable on the blue turf.

Key Players

Quarterback Nathan Rourke is the catalyst for Ohio’s offense. He has thrown for 2,676 yards on 191 of 311 passing with 20 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Rourke has also rushed for 780 yards on 144 carries with 12 more touchdowns. O’Shaan Allison is the Bobcats’ leading rusher with 823 yards on 123 carries with six touchdowns.

Ohio’s defense has a bend-but-don’t-break mentality. The Bobcats give up an average of 401.5 yards but only 27 points a game.

Austin Conrad leads the team with four sacks. The Bobcats have only been able to create four interceptions on the year.

Nevada Has Feast-Or-Famine Season

It is very rare for a team with a 7-5 record to have an average point differential of almost -11 per game. But, when the Wolf Pack loses, they lose big, really inflating that number.

Nevada lost by 71 to Oregon, 51 to Hawaii, 28 to Utah State and 26 to Wyoming. The UNLV loss, by three in overtime that ended a three-game winning streak, was the only one that was close.

On the flip side, the Wolf Pack’s largest margin of victory was 16 points over UTEP.

This is Nevada’s second straight bowl appearance. It defeated Arkansas State 16-13 in overtime last year in the Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl.

Key Players

Carson Strong has completed 206 of 325 passes for 1,933 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Elijah Cooks is the Wolf Pack’s best receiver with 62 catches for 729 yards and seven touchdowns.

Toa Taua led the running game with 759 yards on 190 carries and six touchdowns.

Nevada is going to have some issues on defense with the surging Ohio offense. The Wolf Pack gives up 397.7 yards and 32.1 points per game.

Ohio Vs. Nevada Potato Bowl Betting Prediction

Neither of these defenses is good, and points should be easy to come by. The scary part is the winter weather in Idaho. If it is cold, breezy and snowy, over 58.5 might be hard to get to. If the weather looks good heading into the week, I still think over 58.5 is the smart play.

If you are betting the game straight up, I’m on Ohio here. In fact, this Nevada team has looked really bad at times, and Ohio is a veteran squad, so I’m taking the Bobcats -7.5.
