Raptors Vs. Bucks NBA Playoffs Game 1 | Expert Picks And Betting Odds

Toronto Raptors vs Milwaukee Bucks Conference Finals betting odds and picks

If you like some old school basketball, this is the series for you. Before the super teams were created, we used to see superstars going head-to-head, helped by a bunch of role players. This is precisely what we are getting when Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks clash against Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors for a seed in the NBA finals.

Toronto Raptors vs Milwaukee Bucks Game 1 Betting Preview

Before taking a look at the Game 1 odds, let’s see how the oddsmakers are viewing this Eastern Conference matchup. The series price given by MyBookie.ag have the Bucks are the clear-cut favorites to advance listed at -290. That number gives an implied probability of 74% of advancing to the finals.

Besides home court advantage, the difference Milwaukee and Toronto was exactly two games during the regular season. The Bucks were the only 60 win team in the NBA, and the Raptors had the second best record in the league with 58 wins.

The series price at MyBookie has Toronto at +235 with an implied probability of 30% of winning and moving on. This is the first series in these playoffs where the Raptors don’t have home court advantage. In the previous two, they were able to win on the road against Orlando and Philadelphia. The problem lays down when you realize Milwaukee lost only eight games at home all season. When they dropped one against Boston in the previous playoffs series, they responded by winning the next four.

The Bucks haven’t played in a week. The team is well-rested after taking down the Celtics last Wednesday. The Raptors, instead, had to battle to eliminate the Philadelphia 76ers in a Game 7 effort on Sunday. Can rust be an issue with Milwaukee? I don’t think so. I expect the Bucks to come out swinging right out of the game in Game 1.

The matchup we are all waiting to see, of course, is Giannis going one on one against Kawhi. One is a freak of nature who can’t be contained. The other one is one of the best defenders in the NBA who has evolved to be a great scorer in the last few seasons as well. There might not be a better matchup in the current playoffs than these two going at it.

By looking at the Game 1 odds, you realize how much better the people making the odds think Milwaukee is in this series. The Bucks won three of the four games this series and two of those wins were in Toronto. Not to mention, two of those victories were also by a double-digit margin.

I have these two teams set to go on a long series and while Game 1 is important, whoever loses is not going to be doomed. Expect both sides to exchange baskets in the first three quarters without actually getting far ahead from each other. The fourth quarter should be different as Milwaukee will take advantage of having more time to rest. That’s where they separate themselves and take Game 1 while covering the spread.
