Redskins Vs. Eagles – Monday Night Football Betting Odds | Predictions
The loser of the NFC East clash on Monday Night Football between the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles will be in a severe problem. With the Dallas Cowboys separating themselves from the herd in the division, Redskins, and Eagles are in a must-win situation on Monday.
MyBookie.ag currently has the Eagles at 6-point favorites at home for this rivalry game. The betting line opened with Philadelphia as a touchdown favorite, but it felt the line was overinflated. I can’t see the betting line going lower than six points, however. 55% of the betting public doesn’t trust the current Super Bowl Champs and is going with the Redskins and the points. The game total is at 45.5 points. It opened at 44.

What’s the Redskins latest betting form to face the Eagles?
When the Washington Redskins were leading the NFC East division early in the season, there was a sense this team was fraudulent. We were all waiting for them to fall and they have now. Three losses in the last four games have put their playoffs hopes in jeopardy. The sense is they need to win at least the remaining divisional games to stay in the race for a postseason spot. Beating a team like Philadelphia would be great because they would knock out a direct opponent.
Nevertheless, their recent momentum suggests that’s easier said than done. The Skins have covered the spread twice in the last four games. In fact, in their previous three games the oddsmakers listed them as underdogs because no one is really buying the way they play. With QB Alex Smith gone for the season, Washington needs a better showing from QB Colt McCoy. He hung in there in the first half of their Thanksgiving loss to the Dallas Cowboys, but then mistakes happen. Despite being a backup quarterback, McCoy, is used to making plays. He will always try to make something happen because he believes in his abilities.
It would serve him well if Adrian Peterson gets back to his best form. All Day hasn’t been the same since suffering a shoulder injury a few weeks ago. Over the last four games, he didn’t even reach the 70 rushing yards and twice ran fewer than 40 yards. Washington has struggled because their offense is pedestrian, and a little banged up. Health is an issue and is not fixable one week to the next.
What’s the Eagles latest betting form to face the Redskins?
The Eagles are struggling just as much as the Redskins, and their issues are similar. Philadelphia has lost two of their last three games and three of their previous five. They had to rally back from a 19-point deficit to beat the New York Giants 25-22 last week. It’s safe to say the Eagles have been a lousy bet all season. They have covered the spread just three times in eleven games, and they are 1-4 against the spread in their last five. Last week they were a 5-point favorite over the Giants and were not close to cover.
Philadelphia’s problem starts with their lack of running abilities. They barely average over 100-rushing yards per game, and that puts too much pressure on QB Carson Wentz. The Eagles offense last season was a juggernaut, but this year is far from it. Philly averages an unimpressive 20.9 points per game in 2018. I like Wentz as a quarterback. I think he will be the future of the NFL or at least in the mix. The problem is there is no balance on this offense. The running game is not there, their play calls don’t seem to have the value of the past season.
Posting a 3-3 record at home is not great for a team that dominated the league just a year ago. Too many things have gone the wrong way for Philadelphia. Asking them to cover any sort of a spread feels like a giant mountain. Like Washington, they have a few key players injured. DE Michael Bennett (foot), LB Jordan Hicks (calf), CB Avonte Maddox (ankle, knee), CB Jalen Mills (foot) did not practice on Thursday. LB Nigel Bradham (thumb), G Brandon Brooks (ankle), and DT Timmy Jernigan (illness) were limited. New to betting on the Eagles? Read our Online Guide To Betting On Philadelphia Eagles.
The play for the MNF game between Redskins and Eagles?
Both the Redskins and the Eagles are banged up and playing far away from the best level. The good news for Washington is they feel comfortable when playing Philadelphia. The Redskins has dominated the series against Philly, winning five of their last seven games. We have found the hard way that betting the Eagles is not a great way to make some money. Philadelphia is a team with lots of problems on both sides, but especially on offense. They have a one-dimensional offense that becomes predictable in the eyes of many.
Washington defense is inside the top ten, and they can pressure the quarterback and make plays. The Redskins are aware their unit will be the reason they have success or not this season. And now, when their postseason dreams are on the line, they need to deliver. The Redskins also had ten days to prepare to face the Eagles. Those extra days come in handy for QB Colt McCoy.
He knows the offense because he has been as a backup in this system for a while. Now he can get comfortable and in sync with his teammates, which will make a world of difference. I don’t trust any of these two teams, but by the way the Eagles are playing, I can’t lay down 6 points on them, let alone in a divisional rivalry game. Bet Washington with the points. Take the Redskins +6.
