San Jose Sharks Vs. Nashville Predators Predictions
It’s very early in the season, but the Nashville Predators have been the best team in the NHL after two weeks. Their meeting against the San Jose Sharks offers a great matchup to keep improving their record. Nashville knows a lot of their postseason success will be directly attached to having home-ice in the playoffs. It’s better to start the season at full speed, and whenever a lousy streak comes, the lead would be already built. The Predators have won seven of their first eight games, all in regulation. They are one of the few teams that haven’t gone to overtime this season. Nashville enters this matchup with five wins in a row, including the last two against the Calgary Flames (5-3) and the Edmonton Oilers (3-0).
Their win over Calgary last Friday was a quick payback from their only loss this season. The Predators have been money line favorites in each of their first eight games. They should be favorites once again on Tuesday Night at Sportsbetting.ag. Nashville’s offense fuels of their defensive efforts. They score 3.4 goals per game after two weeks (10th best in the NHL), but they allow a league’s best 1.9. Only twice they have shut down opponents, but one of those was a 3-0 win over Edmonton and playmaker Connor McDavid. Goalie Juuse Saros stopped 31 shots against the Oilers, his most this season. He looks to be a great answer as goalie Pekka Rinne recovers from an undisclosed injury.
San Jose doesn’t have the impressive start Nashville does, but the Sharks have won their last two outings with authority. Wins over the Buffalo Sabres (4-1) and New York Islanders (5-1) have allowed them to put together some momentum before entering Bridgestone Arena. The two goals allowed in the last two games helped them dropped their goals-against average to 2.8. The Sharks gave up 19 of their 21 goals this season during the first six games. Of course, it doesn’t mean they have fixed the defensive tasks. It’s just that they took advantage of two of the weakest offensive teams in the NHL.
San Jose averages 38.8 shots per game in the first two weeks. That’s almost eight more shots than Nashville per game. Yet, the Sharks score 3.25 goals per night against 3.38 from the Predators. The shot selection and the puck movement are better for Nashville, and that makes them a more dangerous side. The Sharks have dropped the last two in the series against the Predators. Nashville scored 12 goals in the previous two wins over San Jose while allowing only four. Nothing seemed to have changed. The Preds are the hottest team in the league and should stay on the winning side after this one. What’s the play? Predators.
