San Antonio Spurs Vs. Los Angeles Lakers – NBA Consensus Betting Picks | Odds

San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Lakers Predictions

By the end of the week, the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers would have played all their four regular season games. We haven’t even gotten to December 25th. They might meet again in the playoffs, but things are not looking great right now. the matchup on Wednesday broadcasted by ESPN will get the Spurs playing on back-to-back nights. San Antonio started the season with a good run but has struggled since early November. Since their loss to the Orlando Magic on November 4th, they have dropped 10 of their last 15 games.

When was the last time we got to see a Greg Popovich’s team in such a deep hole? Pop might not want to say it, but retirement is right around the corner. He even admitted a few days ago he wasn’t having any fun lately. San Antonio plays in Utah on Tuesday before facing the Lakers in LA. Then they travel back home to face the Lakers again in Texas. And later on Sunday, they host the Jazz. That’s a weird stretch in their schedule. But the weirdest thing about this team is they don’t do anything particularly well on any side. They are mediocre on any department that matters and that includes points scored, rebounds and assists.

Lakers will be rested for their matchup against the Spurs. They are on a three-game winning run. Slowly, the team is getting an identity around Lebron James and company. They have won six of their last eight and have climbed to be within two games of the Golden State Warriors in the Pacific division. Keep an eye on the game total for this matchup. The Lakers are used to playing low scoring games at home. Nine of their 13 games played at the Staples Center went under the total. Yet, the Spurs are the entire opposite side.

Seven of their 12 games on the road went over the game total. These two teams met twice in October with one win per side. Their meeting at the Staples Center on October 22 had All-Star weekend numbers as the Spurs won 143-142. A lot had changed since them, especially with Los Angeles trending up. Los Angeles can score averaging 112.7 points per game. But the difference maker has been their willingness to make the extra effort.

LA is 9th in rebounds, and that’s the entire mindset of the team over the last month. They know they are not as talented as other squads in the NBA, and therefore they have to compromise in the effort. And by the way, that’s precisely what’s lacking on San Antonio lately. The Spurs are not spending much energy on the floor and anybody can tell that’s why the team’s struggling lately. I’m going with the Lakers at home in this one. They have one extra night of rest, plus they are at home and playing better in the last few weeks. Take the Lakers to win by 5 points.
