The first Sunday without NFL football might not hit you that hard, thanks to the start of the XFL.

The St. Louis BattleHawks will visit the Dallas Renegades in the last game of the four scheduled for the opening weekend.

The matchup between these two has seen plenty of betting action already. Take a look at our game breakdown and analysis of the betting odds:

Why Bet On The St. Louis Renegades To Cover The Spread

Pro football is back in St. Louis… or kind of. The BattleHawks will look to fill the void in a town that lost the Rams back in 2015 to the city of Los Angeles.

There isn’t a lot of expectation about what St. Louis can accomplish in the first season. The oddsmakers have them +700 to win the XFL title. Only two teams have worse odds right now.

Quarterback Is A Question Mark For St. Louis

St. Louis is also the only team in the XFL without a recognizable QB. The rest of the squads have at least a name that made it to the NFL with some noise or at least had a decent career in college.

QB Jordan Ta’amu is the starter for the opening week. He played for Ole Miss in College, and his NFL career lasted less than 30 days with the Houston Texans. Ta’amu was the first player selected by St. Louis in the XFL draft.

The top player on offense will be tailback Christine Michael, who once was a starting running back for the Seattle Seahawks.

The BattleHawks hired Jonathan Hayes as their head coach. He spent 15 years as a tight end coach of the Cincinnati Bengals. This will be his first gig as a head coach.

Most Recognizable Player Is A Punter?

Not that it matters much, but punter Marquette King is part of the BattleHawks. King used to be a very recognizable face in the NFL, playing with the Broncos and Raiders.

Why Bet On The Dallas Renegades To Cover The Spread

The oddsmakers have made the Dallas Renegades the favorites to win the XFL title at +350.

The reason why Dallas is the favorite is the combination between quarterback and head coach, which, in a league so new, could be good enough to win it all.

Deadly Coach + Quarterback Combo

Bob Stoops is back coaching after leaving Oklahoma. He will try to take Renegades to the top with his aggressive play calling.

Stoops spent 17 years with the Sooners and became the only head coach in College Football history to win the Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and Sugar Bowl. His record with the Sooners was 190-48.

Under center will be Landry Jones. He is an ex-Steelers backup QB who served as a firefighter whenever Ben Roethlisberger got injured. Jones is not a QB that will wow you with his passing skills, but under Bob Stoops’ scheme, he should excel.

Make no mistake about it – the Dallas Renegades will be a passing team the entire year. The coaching staff is looking to make them the most exciting team to watch in the league, which means they be quite aggressive on offense.

BattleHawks Vs. Renegades XFL Game Prediction

The game between the BattleHawks and Renegades has the biggest spread of the four matchups scheduled.

The most significant new rule of the XFL, compared to the NFL, is the double-forward pass. It’s kind of crazy.

If there is a coach who is going to take advantage of it is Bob Stoops. I will be disappointed if he doesn’t scheme something crazy with these new rules. Stoops and Dallas should score a lot, right out of the gate.

Let’s ride them to get a W in the first weekend. Bet Dallas Renegades -9 to win and cover the spread.
