Stars Vs. Blues Betting Predictions | NHL Divisional Finals Game 2 Picks
Dallas Stars Vs. St. Louis Blues Betting Preview
Yeah, Dallas lost Game 1 of their second-round series against the St. Louis Blues, but it was too close for the home team to feel comfortable. Game 2 should be a lot more interesting because the Stars seems to have shaken off the early fears of facing a better team on paper. The Blues are the favorites in this series and with reason. After taking down the Winnipeg Jets, they had a few extra days to prepare while watching the Stars and the Nashville Predators decide who will be their opponent.
St. Louis left a lot of plays in Game 1, but they eventually defended home-ice with a 3-2 win. It was a little too close for anybody’s comfort. Dallas scored with three minutes to go to get to a one score difference. Then, they failed a clear goal with two seconds left. Either way, it was a great game. Here’s where Dallas needs to feel good about their performance. Goalie Ben Bishop didn’t play his best, and they were right in the contest while playing on the road against a good team.
Bishop had only 17 saves in Game 1 and allowed three goals. The first should have been a routine save. Bishop was the best player on the team in the series against the Predators. He just wasn’t at his best on Thursday Night. On Saturday I would expect him to bounce back.
The Stars are +1000 in the future betting odds at MyBookie.ag to win the Stanley Cup. That’s a 9% of implied probability to win the Cup at the end of this run. With eight teams remaining in the dance, Dallas and the Columbus Blue Jackets are the two longest shots to win it all. Both sides dropped Game 1 of their respective second-round series matchups.
We can now find the Blues at +400 to win the Stanley Cup after Game 1 went their way. The San Jose Sharks have the same odds, and only the Boston Bruins are viewed as a bigger favorite listed at +300. With those odds, the guys at MyBookie are giving St. Louis a 20% of chances to lift the Cup. We are still a lot of games away from that outcome, but that’s a good percentage in my book.
For Game 2 alone I like the value of a Dallas win on the road at +120. The oddsmakers are revealing this series is expected to be tight although home-ice is on the side of the Blues. Dallas’ goalie Ben Bishop can’t play any worse than he did on Thursday Night. I expect him to carry his team and steal this one from St. Louis.
