Tennessee Titans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars – NFL Week 3 Betting Picks And Odds
Nothing says Thursday Night Football like an awful matchup between the Tennessee Titans and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
It has become a TNF classic; although not for the right reasons. Either way, every time two NFL teams jump on the field, it’s a great chance to make money. So let’s get right into it.

The betting line for this AFC South game opened as a pick’em, but since, it has moved towards the road team. Tennessee is now -2 at MyBookie.ag.
On Tuesday, the line was at -1.5, and I expect it to climb at least another half a point before the kickoff. The total has also shown a lot of movement. It opened at 41 points, and now it can be found at 38.5.
Tennessee Titans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Preview
In a very traditional Tennessee Titans way, the team went into Cleveland and destroyed the Browns, only to lose at home to the Indianapolis Colts the following week. Inconsistency is the right word to describe this franchise over the past five seasons.
When the Titans visit Jacksonville, they will be on a four-game winning streak in the series against the Jaguars. RB Derrick Henry might be the key to the game for Tennessee.
The gigantic running back posted 238 rushing yards and four touchdowns the last time he met the Jags in 2018. That day Henry won a lot of fantasy matchups by himself.
Of course, that was last season, but Henry has started 2019 with two solid performances. He ran for 84 yards against the Browns in week one, and 81 against the Colts last weekend; both times he found the end zone.
Are The Jaguars’ Prepared For Henry?
He is averaging only 17 touches per game. The Titans might want to get him a bit more involved. I fully expect the Jaguars’ defense to be prepared for Henry.
Allowing 238 rushing yards a year ago should be still in their brain. The issue with Jacksonville is the team looks a little broken. CB Jalen Ramsey asked for a trade on Monday, and several reports suggest HC Doug Marrone’s job might also be in jeopardy.
Keep in mind Titans QB Marcus Mariota is dealing with a quad injury suffered in the game against the Colts. He has been practicing with the rest of the team, but an injury like that during a short week is always a concern.
Mariota is coming off a shy game against Indianapolis. He posted only 154 passing yards and a touchdown. Marcus has not been intercepted this season, but he has been sacked four times on each game this year.
What The Jacksonville Jaguars Bring To The Game
The Jaguars are in a tight spot entering week 3. They have lost two games in a row, and are at the bottom of the AFC South. But it is not only that, the locker-room seems to be broken despite only having played two games this season.
Where to start? On Sunday there was a heated argument between Doug Marrone and CB Jalen Ramsey caught by the cameras. On Monday, Ramsey asked for a trade. Ramsey is the best player on this team, but he’s also way too loud to a point where he can become a distraction.
I had big expectations for the Jags defense in 2019. The talent is there, but the chemistry is way off. The unit did hold the Texans to 263 total yards last week but couldn’t avoid the loss.
Minshew Leading The Offense
On the other side, the new social media sensation Gardner Minshew II is leading the offense now. Minshew has swagger and a cool way about himself, but he needs to translate that to wins or soon that perception will change.
He’s not the reason the Jaguars are losing. Minshew posted 213 yards and a touchdown against the Texans while driving the team to tie the game in the last seconds.
Marrone decided to go for 2 points to win the game but ended up giving the ball to the inefficient Leonard Fournette. Houston lost by one.
Fournette is averaging 56.5 rushing yards per game in the first two weeks. He hasn’t scored a touchdown and has one fumble lost. If there is anybody that needs to step up its game.
Titans vs. Jaguars NFL Week 3 Betting Prediction
I don’t usually like betting the road favorite on a short week, but the Titans seem to have the Jags’ number. Tennessee’s defense is an underrated unit. It should hit and harass rookie QB Garner Minshew all night, making him turn the ball over for the first time in his short NFL career.
Jacksonville has too many issues inside the locker-room to be trustworthy. Being lousy at running the football doesn’t help either. The Titans are an overall better team than the Jags and should win this one at least by a field goal. Bet Tennessee -2.
Also, neither of these teams has breathtaking offenses. If anything, both units are a work in progress. Betting Under 39 is also a solid play.
