Tennessee Volunteers Vs. Kentucky Wildcats Predictions
What a wild matchup we have this weekend as the number one seed in the nation, the Tennessee Volunteers visit the always difficult Rupp Arena to face the Kentucky Wildcats in the best game of the Saturday slot in College Basketball. Tennessee’s fantastic form this season has put them in contention to win the NCAAB basketball title when March Madness arrives. MyBookie.ag has them at +1100 to win the tournament. There are still a few schools with better odds like Duke (+180), Gonzaga (+900) and Virginia (+1000). But again, what the Volunteers have done this season is mesmerizing.
The Volunteers haven’t lost since November 23 when they dropped their only game against Kansas. The most stunning thing about it is it was only the fifth game of the season, and it took the Jayhawks overtime to get the W. Tennessee has won 19 straight since that loss against Kansas. They have covered the spread in four of their last six outings. And the Vols haven’t been underdogs in the College Basketball spread since playing Gonzaga early in December. The Volunteers managed to win straight up while covering the spread as a 3.5-point home underdog against the Zags.
Kentucky should be more than just a challenge. Visiting Rupp Arena usually becomes a bigger task than most teams can handle. With that said, LSU was able to come out alive last Tuesday by upsetting the Wildcats 73-71. Kentucky was an 8.5-point favorite and failed to cover the spread. Their last four games in a row have gone UNDER the total. That should tell you we might be overestimating their offense.
A Tennessee team that hasn’t lost in over two months and a half, against a Kentucky squad eager to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss should give us quite the clash. I do feel oddsmakers are not respecting the Volunteers’ winning streak as they should. Everybody is just waiting for their second loss to come anytime soon, but it doesn’t become a reality. The opportunity Tennessee has on Saturday night is to put all the speculation to rest. A victory over Kentucky on the road could be the statement win they need in their resume. What’s the play? Tennessee.
