Titans Vs. Texans – Monday Night Football Betting Odds | Predictions
The Texans will look for their eighth straight win of the season on MNF, when they host the Tennessee Titans, in the last game of the NFL Week 12. This AFC South matchup is set to be played at the NRG Stadium, in Houston, Texas. The Titans are waiting to see if quarterback Marcus Mariota is available for this game. Mariota left the matchup against the Colts last week with an elbow injury. If he can’t go then, Blaine Gabbert will take his place.
At MyBookie.ag the betting line has Houston as a 6.5-point favorite at home. The line opened as a touchdown favorite, but it went down half a point. 53% of the betting public is going with Tennessee and the points in this Primetime matchup. The game total is at 41.5 points after it opened at 41.

What’s the Titans latest betting form to face the Texans?
The Titans are that team that can smack the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots on consecutive weeks, just to be embarrassed by the Colts a week later. Tennessee is a roller-coaster of a team and one of the most complicated to analyze.I do think they are closer to the version that beat the Cowboys on Monday Night Football. They are not that unstoppable team that ate the New England Patriots two weeks ago. Nor they are that horrible team that was stomped by the Indianapolis Colts last weekend. They are pretty much in the middle.
Tennessee does have a good enough defense to make the Texans sweat a lot on Monday. Their front seven is particularly good even though they couldn’t reach Andrew Luck last week. What makes this matchup great for the Titans is Houston’s offensive line is one of the weakest in the NFL. The Texans QB Deshaun Watson has been sacked 33 times this season; that’s 3rd worst in the league.
If the Titans want to show a better performance than what they did a week ago, it all starts with their defensive applications. Tennessee offense will feed off the defensive effort. It’s that simple. With an excellent defensive performance by the defense, Mariota could put together long drives. He won’t have the pressure of playing from behind. Against the Colts they were always behind in the scoreboard, and that just put them in bad a spot.
What’s the Texans latest betting form to face the Titans?
Houston has won seven straight games after starting the season 0-3. That’s quite a turnaround for a team that began the year with all kind of doubts. Last week, they had to suffer until the end to beat the Washington Redskins 23-21. It’s the type of matchups the Texans have come used to playing in 2018. Of the seven games they won, only two came with a double-digit margin. They trashed the Miami Dolphins and beat the Jacksonville Jaguars handily. The rest have been one-score wins. I’m not saying I don’t entirely buy the Texans, but their winning form is strange. After their games, you don’t come out thinking the better won. There is always doubt.
Houston does have the upper hand over Tennessee. The Texans have won the last five straight in the series when the game is at the NRG stadium. But also, the Titans cover the spread just once of their previous eight visits to Houston. The Texans defense is the one doing the job and keeping the team on the winning side. Last week a pick-6 from their end zone saw a 14-point swing going their favor. The 101-yard interception for a touchdown changed the entire scenario of a game that looks complicated in all phases.
The offense is the one that leaves me a little doubt. QB Deshaun Watson is not near the version of him we saw early in 2017. He still looks a little rusty coming off a severe knee injury. He doesn’t quite have the same confidence and mojo. Of course, having WR DeAndre Hopkins is always going to help him. But the task in hand against the Titans is not an easy one.
The play for the MNF game between Titans and Texans?
The Titans lost by 28 points against the Colts last week, and the Texans have won seven straight. It should be an easy one, right? Well, actually it is not. Houston doesn’t look like a dominant team despite their seven wins in a row. I just think a lot had gone their way during that run. I am genuinely worried about the Texans offensive line matchup against the Titans defense. Tennessee defense can put pressure from all angles. Their front seven is no joke. And sometimes I think Deshaun Watson holds the ball too long, making the job easier for the defense.
I don’t think the Texans should be a touchdown or closer to a touchdown favorite against anybody in the NFL. They were a 10-point favorite against the Buffalo Bills a few weeks ago and almost lost that game outright. Tennessee already won the first game of the series against Houston this season. In fact, they did it with Marcus Mariota sidelined due to an injury. A divisional rivalry matchup between teams with good defenses should end up in a close one. It doesn’t matter where the game is being played.
Asking Houston to win by a touchdown is asking a lot. Of the division leaders in the AFC (Patriots, Steelers, Chiefs, and Texans), they look like the weaker side and not by little. Tennessee was embarrassed last week. I doubt they put together another poor showing like that on consecutive weeks. Bet Titans +6.5.
