TNF Football Week 9 – Bills at Jets

TNF Football Week 9 – Bills at Jets
The AFC East takes center stage in tonight’s game. The Bills and Jets are both having strong seasons relative to the season-long win totals, where prognosticators put them both under six total wins. The game means a bit more to the Jets as they already have five losses and are in danger of falling completely out of contention.
Our odds are from SportsBetting.ag (Full Review) and are accurate as of writing. Still, it pays to line shop for the best price on your wagers.
Buffalo Bills -3 (-122) at New York Jets +3 (+102) Total: 43
Buffalo also made a trade for Kelvin Benjamin, formerly of the Carolina Panthers. They gave up third and a seventh-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. It is unclear if Benjamin will be active this Thursday night.
New York has played better than expected this season and they have lost some close games. Atlanta came to town last week and narrowly took care of the Jets, winning 25-20. They also lost by just three points at Miami the week before. The Jets desperately need a win tonight as they’re sitting at 3-5 on the season.
Betting Action
The Bills opened at -3.5 but that has been bet down at most spots. Most sportsbooks are now -3 in favor of Buffalo, but with heavy vig on the Bills. Most of the betting action has been on the Bills so far. The total opened at 43 points and has now moved to 42.5 at some shops.
Prediction
I would lean towards the Jets in this game, but the best play appears to be on the total. Both teams have underrated defenses and slow-paced offenses. This game looks to be one of those closely fought divisional battles, where both teams emphasis their run game and play field position.
Todd Bowles is one of the most conservative coaches in all of football. Sean McDermott isn’t exactly a gambler either. Buffalo is 10th in defensive DVOA and the Jets are 22nd but are better at stopping the run than the pass. I like this one to go under the total.
