The UFC will go at it again this weekend. The UFC Fight Night on ESPN features Curtis Blaydes vs. Alexander Volkov as the main event, and we have everything you need to know about this big fight.
The Fight Night will be on June 20 at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. It will have five fights in the main card and seven in the preliminary. This is another great opportunity to bet on UFC.
Let’s take a look at the main fight between Blaydes vs. Volkov.
What the UFC Odds say about the Blaydes vs. Volkov fight
Blaydes Vs. Volkov Odds To Win | ||
---|---|---|
Curtis Blaydes | +300 | ![]() |
Alexander Volkov | -400 |
Alexander Volkov jumps out as the heavy favorite to win on Saturday. Volkov is -400 at Mybookie while a Curtis Blaydes’ upset is at +300.
The odds have the total rounds at 2.5. The Over pays +110 and the Under -140. It appears the oddsmakers are expecting a shorter fight.
What Is Curtis Blaydes’ Edge Vs. Volkov
Curtis Blaydes has been in the primary fight of a UFC Fight Night twice in his career. He has a 1-1 record when he’s the headliner.
Blaydes has won seven of his last eight fights, losing only to Francis Ngannou back in November 2018. His previous appearance at the Octagon was a solid win over Junior dos Santos back in January. It was the fourth time in his last five contests where he ends it with a TKO win.
Blaydes has the power to end the fight early. That’s always a good thing if we are going to take a leap and bet the dog at +300. Yet, his two losses to Ngannou revealed he’s not great at taking punches, and Alexander Volk will land more than a few.
What Is Alexander Volkov’s Edge Vs. Blaydes
Volkov hasn’t fought in 2020. The last time he was in the Octagon, he outclassed former NFL player Greg Hardy with a win via unanimous decision. Alexander has won seven of the previous eight showings, only losing to Derrick Lewis in 2018.
Out of the 31 wins Alexander Volkov has in his career, 20 were via KO/TKO, including two of his last three. His kickboxing style is hard to deal with, but his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu background makes him a complete fighter.
Volkov has been criticized in the past for his finishing abilities against top opponents. Curtis Blaydes has grown as a fighter, but the good news is, he doesn’t belong in the top category. Volkov should end him before going the distance.
Curtis Blaydes Vs. Alexander Volkov Predictions
At +300, Curtis Blaydes gives us great value, but his opponent is also a guy that can end fights quickly. Blaydes’s resume will take a massive boost if he wins this fight, but besides a lucky punch, I don’t see how he grabs the W this weekend.
Alexander Volkov is too big of a favorite, but let’s face it, although he’s a more polished fighter than Blaydes, laying down -400 is not attractive.
This fight will end in the first two rounds. The best bet is taking Under 2.5 rounds at -140.
