Utah Vs. Colorado – College Football Week 12 Picks
Utah Utes vs. Colorado Buffaloes Predictions
The Utes are coming off their best win of the season by thrashing Oregon 32-25 last week. They are one win away from winning the Pac-12 South division. The oddsmakers at Mybookie.ag have them a little over a touchdown favorite for a visit to Boulder. The betting line opened with the Utes as a 7.5-point favorite, and it moved to 7 at one point in the week. It settled back to 7.5. 63% of the betting public is taking the visiting team despite the spread. Utah has won five of their last six games, with their only loss during that span coming on the road against Arizona State. Last week they beat the Ducks without their starting QB Tyler Huntley and tailback Zack Moss. Both players are out for the rest of the season.
Junior RB Armand Shyne is now the go-to-guy in the offense. He was serving as a backup behind Moss, but last week it was his coming out party. Shyne shined with 174 rushing yards in 26 touches. I expect him to get over 20 carries against Colorado as well. The Buffaloes have now lost five in a row since starting the season 5-0. Their 31-7 loss to Washington State was understandable to some degree. The Cougars are playing like one of the best teams in the nation.
However, the disappointing factor was Colorado’s offense last week. They had fewer than 300-total yards against Washington State, and they were demolished in time of possession 41:16 to 18:14. It didn’t help they turn the ball over three times in the game. Colorado looks unprepared and with very little response to the challenges they face every week.
For many, coach Mike MacIntyre is on his way out of the program. Hosting Utah comes at the worst possible moment for Colorado. The Utes have won five of the last six games in the series against the Buffaloes. Plus, Colorado has covered the spread just three times in their previous 11 home games. It just looks like a bad spot for the home team. What’s the play? Utah -7.
