Villanova Vs. Kansas Predictions - NCAA College Basketball Picks | Betting Odds

What a game we have early on Saturday. The Villanova Wildcats will look to challenge the number one team in the country, the Kansas Jayhawks at the Allen Fieldhouse. For the Wildcats is an uphill battle. They are not thinking about winning this game outright but staying in the matchup for as long as they can to have a shot in the end. MyBookie.ag has Kansas as the team with the third best odds to win the College Basketball title at +900; only Duke (+180) and Gonzaga (+700) are in a better position. Villanova is a long shot at +2800.

17 Villanova Wildcats Vs. 1 Kansas Jayhawks Predictions

Villanova is a ranked team, but they haven’t given us those types of winning moments this season. They looked awful losing by 27 against Michigan early in the season, and they followed that game with another defeat against Furman. I’m not one of those who will trust the Wildcats because they won six straight after the loss against Furman. Their schedule helped them get to that point. Last Tuesday they dropped one against the Pennsylvania Quakers 78-75 and failed to cover as a 7.5-point favorite. Now, granted the Quakers are a 9-2 team with a 5-0 record, but we expected so much more from Nova at this point.

Kansas saw Gonzaga’s win streak come to an end against Tennessee. They were pleased to take the number one spot in the College Basketball ranking. The Jayhawks started the season at number one. They reclaimed the spot after the hype surrounding both Duke and Gonzaga slowed down a little. The Jayhawks have faced two ranked teams this season and beat them both; although both times it was close. They took down Michigan State by five points in the season opener and beat Tennessee by six points. Kansas hasn’t been a great bet this season when playing at the Allen Fieldhouse. They have covered the spread just once in the last five games at home.

The difference in this game is I don’t think Villanova can matchup Kansas’ production. The Wildcats average 75.0 points per game this year but has been able to score over 80 points just once in the last five games. Kansas can actually play defense and score out of defensive stops. The Jayhawks average 81.8 points per game while scoring 80+ in five of the eight games they play this season. I know I already mentioned Kansas hasn’t been great playing at home, but I don’t think Villanova is a match for them. The Big East is not as talented of a conference as years in the past. Nova, in particular, is in rebuilding stages after winning the National title last season. It will be evident when they face Kansas this weekend. What’s the play? Kansas by double digits.
